It was the ultimate miracle.

Tony Pulis was one of the very few football people in planet earth capable of taking us to survival.

For a glimpse into a Zaha-less future you don't have to go back too far.

Burnley 1 CPFC 0; CPFC 0 Newcastle 2.

By the way, Eze, who the media world its currently breathless in their oohing and aaaahing about started both those miserable performances.

When Zaha leaves we will be relegated within two seasons.

We had very very good opportunities to score against those two teams didn't we.

And didn't.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Yes, come on. Two goals, 6 shots and four completed dribbles. That's 4 less shots and 2 less dribble than the entire WBA team. More than that though, it's the improvement that he brings out of other players.

He's capable of utter domination and that's with most teams doubling up on him. Unfortunately he's inconsistent, temperamental and wants to leave as well so it's not all good.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Our problem is we will not spend the money and will buy on the cheap,

Arsenal sold Iwobi for £40m and bought Pepe for £72m - what is Wilf worth? What will we get?

Very worried for our future if he goes - feel like it will be like 1991 again.

Sell your best players and replace them with average players and you go backwards.
No one of Wilf's quality will come to Palace so we have to keep buying better players than the ones we have until we can compete without him. At this rate we will need to keep him the full length of his contract and let him walk for nothing. I'd give him anything he wants to keep him at the club until he has a grey beard if I was Parish.

I’m with you all the way. He is so strong.

As others have said if Wilf goes it is unlikely that we will get someone as good unless we are lucky.

However we need to upgrade the quality of the team so maybe 2/3 players better than we have now might make us stronger overall.

But as the poster above states will we spend the money?

Yes.

Parish wants to spend as little as possible to keep us in the top division and he knows that whilst Wilf is here and firing he will probably keep us up on his own but if he goes Parish knows that he will have to spend or be relegated

Football history is peppered with stories of clubs that spent big money and got relegated anyway.

Palace without zaha will need major re-engineering. Maybe we should be starting the work already ?

I guess Eze is a start. We need maybe at least two others, although Banks may develop into one of those.

Clearly were he to go, which is extremely unlikely, we would have a big problem but only while Roy is the manager. Someone new would bring in a few players and adapt our playing style. Roy however has only a plan A which involves getting the ball to Wilf as soon as possible.

Does anyone know of any decent Championship players at the moment that could immediately make the step up in the same way Watkins, Eze and Benrahma have done this summer?

.. I was fairly confident during these games with the opportunities we were making we would score at least one, but you're right of course.
