Hodgson himself has said it's the best squad he’s had at Palace and in fairness is not seeking to use squad weakness as an excuse for defeats.

Jordan Ayew plays for Ghana, McArthur played for Scotland - retired, McCarthy plays for ROI..!! What’s your point? It just further proves my point of what a talented squad we have and Roy is not making the most of it. Look at Sørloth - shipped out as a “no hoper” now playing for Leipzig and Norway - when we’ve been crying out for a goal scorer...!! Just reaffirms my point Roy is not capable of getting the best from what is a very talented squad so time to move on..!! COYP

The problem is we have been in the premier league a good few years, we should have moved on from just survival, the disappointment is that we don't seem to have moved on much from the 2nd season, 3-3 v Liverpool at home great passion and result, would this team, manager be able to provide that type of result ?

I wasn’t arguing with anybody, so that’s probably the second stupidest reply I’ve ever had.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I have stayed from the post-match threads as I felt sure they would be full of the type of negativity that usually follows two poor results. Having just read a few I can see I was right. Get real people! We have now spent a long time in the biggest league in the world and will likely stay there this year. From when I started supporting Palace, in the 3rd Division South, that's a big success. We are in transition. We are building the academy as our future and 10 years from now things should look very different. We just need to get there. The post-Zaha era will be on us soon enough, and the post-Hodgson one sooner. Until then we have a wise head guiding us. The time will come for other styles but not yet. We may well have to spend a year or two back in the Championship at some point to allow a new, younger, team to gel but Roy is holding things together pretty well at the moment. We didn't get outplayed either yesterday or at Burnley. We could have won either game, and probably deserved a draw in both. That's football. We missed Wilf, some of the players looked jaded, we were outpressed by teams who saw the opportunity to do so. It happens. On to next week. And Eze looks great. As Simon Jordan said, be carefull what you wish for! This is just funny... So the master plan all along has been to spend 8 or 9 seasons in the Prem, build an aged squad, play the most dullest form of 'football' ever, get relegated, spend a year or two in the Championship then come back up and become a Premiership force?? If we were to get relegated the fact you think it's as simple as 'spending a year or two' in the Championship shows how deluded your post is... The Championship is one of the hardest leagues in the world to get out of... In fact how many times do we see sides relegated from the Premiership suffer instant relegation the following season into League one. The last time we were relegated from the Premier League it took us 12 seasons to get back up.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

A lot of "if we had's", "we coulds", "we cans", "in the future" in this..!! Problem is that football is played in the here and now ..!! But clubs survive and grow over many years. You watch football but you support a club. And right now we have very talented squad who are under delivering/performing and that is due to tactics and the Manager - it's that simple. I think it's you that's simple. There are 19 other talented squads involved, all fighting and many with much bigger budgets. They are no more under-performing than anyone else. The tactics are delivering what is needed. It's obvious that you ought to go and support a glory club and not just a very successful one over the last 50 years. Look Roy oversaw one of England's most embarrassing moments in the loss to Iceland and you can see direct parallels here - talented squad constrained by Roy's tactics, so under performing. One game when his players froze and let him and themselves down. Have you never had a bad day? There is no doubt he was a good coach/Manager but his time is done, it's time to move on. He knows how to gain points and achieve decent league positions. He remains calm and treats both wins and losses as opportunities to improve for the next game. He will move on when he and Steve feel it's time and it's safe to do so. Someone asked me why we should have beaten both Burnley and Newcastle, so here you go; Gauita - one of the best keepers in the Prem So what? Every team in the Premiership has good players, some have great players. There are others, but point is, if as a Manager you cant get anything out of that, you surely have to start looking at yourself..!! He is. We are still in the Premier league and keep finishing higher than forecasted. And that is the point - Roy is just not getting the best out of what is available to him and that IMO is due to him as a Manager and his tactics..!! Time to shake hands, move on and get someone in who can make something out of what is undoubtedly a very talented squad..!! Go support Man U. You would be happier there. It's obviously not the plan to return to the Championship, but it may happen, and we will be in much better shape than in the past. Holding the ship steady whilst we move to a new phase of our development might be boring for some but I can just imagine the moans if we had been relegated 3 or more years ago and still be struggling in the Championship, with the parachute payments drying up and administration on the horizon again. If you know of a magic money tree that Steve can harvest perhaps you would let him know.
