My team would be:
Guaita

Ward Kelly Dann Reidewald

Townsend McArthur Schlupp

Batshuayi Ayew Zaha

Top subs: Kouyate, Eze

I reckon Kouyate will start in defence with Dann. Not sure Townsend will get a start. I expect Roy to play 2 CDMs, so McCarthy or Luka with Jimmy Mac.

Cut and paste from last season as the new players look unlikely to start. Eze could do, if recovered. I guess Ferguson has a slim chance of the bench but it seems unlikely. If we sign someone now I see that 'needing to gel' phrase coming up.

This is the correct answer. Eze won't see a minute. Bats might be on as a (very) late sub.

Loftus-Cheek isn’t either but he lined up in a free role on the left but quite narrow. He was super effective for us. If Eze plays there I can see him as having a greater impact than playing number 10 in a 433. We don’t have the personnel to play that system in my opinion and would get overrun.

You won’t see Roy straying too far from his normal system given Bats has only just joined and Eze is not yet fit.. Expect a couple of stoppers in midfield if not 3 and the normal Zaha Ayew Townsend combination in a 4-3-3.

I could well be wrong but I can’t imagine a change in formation until the new guys come in.

I’m not expecting too much from this game but I sincerely hope to be proved wrong.

Agree. Eze and Bats might come on at the 70 mark to sharpen their match fitness. Or possibly Bats might start and complete an hour, then make way for Eze?

Poor old Riedewald. Plays the entire pre season then must be injured as not even in the squad today!

As expected team. Only slight surprise is Schlupp rather than Reidewald. FotMob showing a 4-4-2 but with Andros, Zaha and Ayew playing could end up being 4-3-3. Be interesting to see how we set up.

So Eze & Bats on the bench and no sign of Jairo at all! the two Macs as CDMs, Basically a team from last year, a year older - disappointing to say the least.

So Batsman on the bench??.... Can't use match fitness as an excuse, he's just scored 2 goals at international level!!

I've already had enough of this season.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Starting line up does not inspire confidence.

Usual praying for Wilf to turn up it is!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
