for next season, i see 2 new full backs in mitchell & ferguson giving us more energy on both sides.

i wouldnt be adverse to seeing PVA playing further up tbf if needed.

we dont need any new midfielders, use meyer more & bring banks thru.

bring that young massive lump of a CB into the 1st team squad if we can offload mamadou.

if we have money to spend lets put all our eggs in a striker shaped basket as we are a good solid team, more than capable of holding our own over 38 matches...we just need a striker

We created fewer big chances than any team in the league last year (33). Newcastle in 18th made 44 - way ahead of us. [Link]

We need more than one big name striker, I think we need to restructure our midfield such that we can actually create chances for that striker to put away.

We also have the smallest squad in the league with 20 senior players. We have to add numbers, or we'll end up repeating that ridiculous position we were in over Christmas where we had literally 12 senior players.

Assuming Wilf goes, we're probably needing Wickham back, Banks to be 3x the player he probably is given the level he's played at so far, another 3 strikers/wingers of genuine PL ability, and a creative player in the middle who'll get 7/8 goals.

At the minute, as soon as we get two attacking players unavailable (Schlupp/Benteke as an example) we look completely out of options.

Last game of the season is interesting:-

Mitchell had his second start.
Four young players on the bench - good things have been said about Woods, Kirby, and Pierrick. Cannot recall a mention of Gordon. He is in the under 18 team and is a striker.

Would like to see all five playing. COYP

I expect a lot of lowball offers for Zaha after he's made his desire to go known. Either Parish won't accept them and Zaha will play half heartedly again, or we will take one and not have enough money to replace him.
I'm not expecting any significant new signings and if we do have any they will not be the sort of disciplined, hard working players that forged our 2010 era, but the journeymen we have slowly replaced them with. I don't have much faith in next season and feel less and less like we have a team, and more just a group of employees.

Wilf will be sold.
Roy will be manager.
A few signings but no landmark ones due to our finances and already high wages being paid to dross ...

I'm intrigued to explore a life without Wilf ... perhaps a less predictable approach / system will be deployed (!) but organisation and defense will be at the heart of it with Roy still in situ.

Personally, I'm worried ... but, if anyone can guide us away from relegation ... it has to be Roy eh!

I shall allow events to unfold before opining on our prospects next season.

Wow! You already know what the 3 promoted teams are, what players they (and the other Premier teams) will buy and sell and already know that there are not 3 teams worse than us!
Have you got the lottery numbers for me too?

As things stand right now I am extremely concerned for next season. Apart from whoever wins the playoffs and West Brom it's difficult to think of another team we are likely to finish above. Villa will surely improve next year as will Brighton and West Ham. If Zaha and Hodgson are still with us in 7 weeks time and there hasn't been significant investment in the squad it's hard to be optimistic.

Nice if...
Roy cant agree new transfer strategy, leaves by mutual consent.
Dyche arrives with his scouting team and 4 or 5 useful lower league players join the squad.
Wilf, Mamadooo, Benteke, and Meyer depart - wage issues disappear.
Hennessey + cash in exchange for Edouard. Less cash only if they choose not to take Hennessey.
Flynn Downes joins from Ipswich (good player)
Jairo gets a run of games, Scott Banks returns from loan.

In reality...
Roy stays.
Jordan Ibe unveiled as new big summer signing to replace Wilf on a free.
Batshuayi on loan.
Wickham injured.
3 goals and 1 win from initial 10 games, Roy leaves by mutual consent.
Dougie takes over at no additional expense.
Planning consent update on new stand due in April 2021
Luca banned with 5 yellow cards after 8 games.
Bottom at Christmas.
Relegated on last day of the season due to dodgy VAR decision.

Take your pick!

I really hope Parish does not underestimate what he needs to do in this short transfer window. It's time for Dougie to earn his dough and the owners to put their hands in their pockets otherwise I reckon we are nailed on for 18th spot the coming season.

Sorry new to this let me try again. I am usually extremely positive but agree totally, we have come to the end of this road trying to do things on the cheap. There are hardly any teams left with this mindset, I even saw a stat that said Brighton have spent 10 million pounds plus on a player 6 times since we last did, Sakho was the last one I believe.
