Player of the year? Is this a joke. It’s like nominating a player on table top football. Scrap this year I say.

Actually reading a few posts it’s reminded me that Guaita should get it, twice or three times. We’ve really blagged this season. Scraped some games, not shown up in loads and not gone for it when we could have rather than protecting a 1-0 loss, at home. There really is nothing to celebrate or award in this ownership strategy until we get bought out.

Basically true. The nearest we can get to a celebration is that somehow we are still in the megadosh league, although I recognize there are some fans who yearn for the so-called good old days of the Championship.

Freedman didn't bring in those really required, a right back, a midfielder who knew what the oppositions half looked like, cover at winger, cover at left back and another forward. Forget Ferguson because he has just arrived however as good as the other signings were, the positions they covered were not where our biggest weaknesses were.

As it happens Ayew pulled the rabbit out the hat and chipped in with a lot more goals than anyone would have expected after his loan spell (thanks for that btw Jordan otherwise we would have been deep in it). McCarthy has been underwhelming but solid, Cahill and Guaita excellent. There is still no proper explanation as to why a right back which was a glaring deficiency along with a centre forward wasn't filled in either window.

Most fans would consider a keeper as a priority as Hennessey was struggling and no back up keeper.
McCarthy was an excellent acquisition, grown in confidence over the season, he will replace McArthur in the team next season.
Everyone has a different view, you know we were chasing a RB and striker, but for what ever reason we didn’t get them across the line, a phrase started by Dowie and Jordan, so nothing new.

Each to their own, you’re entitled to your opinion. Hope Sakho proves me wrong but I’d be surprised if he’s still here next season. Not good enough and salary far too high.

We just need to sub Sakho when there is 10 minutes to go. He's normally great for the first 80.

Also regauarding his mistake against Leicester. It takes too to tango, the lack of movement in our midfield is rediculous. We are 17th in terms of km covered this season.

Awful player, complete waste of space. Offers nothing. WH did nothing wrong, by the way, whereas VG cost us at least 3 defeats.

and first in age of our midfielders? If so, the 3 teams behind us must be awful!

CPJ, please clarify, are you saying Guaita has cost us at least 3 defeats and hennessey has done nothing wrong? When hennessey was in for Guaita against Liverpool he was at fault for at least 3 goals!!! We would be relegated if it weren’t for Guaita, you’ve either said this to wind people up , or you are as thick as
The atmosphere on Venus ,

Also , James McCarthy has done nothing wrong , after your goalkeeper statement, your opinions mean nothing to me

What is your obsession with Hennessey?

For me I would probably say Guaita, he has made mistakes recently but so have the rest of the squad, he has kept us in so many games, I would usually hesitate to give POTY to someone who has gifted goals to the opposition but I wouldn’t really say anyone has been better than him during the whole season

Surely it’s Kayla. The way she flew down the wing and terrorised our opponents when they saw the whites of our eyes. Fast, direct and knew where the goal was ( well crossbar anyway). Didn’t cost us a penny and loyal through the good and bad.

The ball boys have provided some of the best entertainment, and I’m not exaggerating.

The player who always gives his all, even when the whole team is sh1t, is Ayew. He has to be player of the season. He's the new Phil Barber.
Next would be Cahill and Guaita. Basically, the only other one worth a shout would be Tomkins, but injuries and poor performances are ruling these out.
Definitely Ayew, would have been Guaita but he's been rubbish recently.
