It such a shame we have gone on this bad run. Even after that we are only 10 points off a champions league place. What might have been.

Our recent poor (unlucky?) run has seen some talk about the possibility of relegation. Over many seasons we have seen that the key to avoiding relegation is to win the games against the teams at the bottom. So far this season against the current bottom 6 we are P8 W5 D3 L0 18 points!

We still have four games to play against them too, including the next 3.

There's enough games left to play that we definitely can't count ourselves anywhere near safe yet.

Our recent run was not unlucky, we've been playing terribly and deserved nothing. Today we turned it around not only with a win but with a good performance, so I'm quite confident that we can get enough points to stay up from now on.

And this pretty much seals it.
4 or 5 pts in 11 matches it's nearly impossible not to get them...

If we can beat Brighton away and Watford at home then West Ham and Watford need 5 more wins and a draw even if we do nothing else.

So now it's "where will the next 7 points come from?"

2 wins 1 draw
1 win 4 draws
7 draws

2 wins 1 draw seems achievable. Playing for 7 draws seems not a good idea.

Recent includes Sheffield United at home, explain how that performance deserves your view of playing terribly and deserving nothing ...

Our performances have been soild in almost every game as far as I'm concerned and this is going to be the case until we find someone in our squad or elsewhere who is able to score because this has been our only problem, goals create excitement for us fans and for the team on the pitch ...this is the reason for their footballing and the look on Hodgson's face!

I'm very sure we go onto the pitch with the aim of winning every time, we always scare Liverpool and mancheating City don't we every time we play them and football cannot get any more difficult then that.

Because it was a completely predictable 1-0 loss, same as when we played them away. We didn't put them under any real pressure. Everton we got dominated for all but 10 minutes of the game, and Southampton at home was an embarrassment.

No surprise that yesterday was the first time in ages that we played with constant intensity, pressure, and intent, and we won. Credit to Hodgson for changing away from our totally passive style of play so that we could turn things around - this was not a case of us continuing to do what we'd already been doing but getting unlucky; it was a case of changing positively.

IMO the only recent home game in which we played "terribly" was Southampton. We generally played well against Sheffield Utd until Guaita's howler. Sheff Utd didn't look like scoring in a month of Sundays before that own goal. We were ok against Arsenal. Away from home we've done ok against Norwich and Southampton, very well against Citeh and had a mixed performance against Everton.
I suspect that teh fact we hadn't won since Boxing Day, resulting in our sliding down the table has had an undue impact on our assessment of our performances
