I have always defended Roy but I have had enough myself. We have absolutely no creativity in midfield. I’d just be happy to see any sort of a change at this stage. Those last 2 games have been horrific.

The problem is we are all presuming that Meyer and Camarasa would be able to make that difference. I have see enough of Meyer to tell me that he is not good enough for this league so then it’s Camarasa and we have no idea what is going on with him. I think he was just bought in case of emergency as we signed no one else.

So if it’s not those 2 who start who do you put in ? I honestly think Roy’s hands are tied at the moment because our squad is threadbare.

When I get frustrated I scream for changes but we actually have no one to make a difference.

Does at the moment look like a training ground purchase. Roy does have it in his locker to play these type of players, look at RLC.

I have a degree of sympathy for Roy.
There seems to be real disconnect between the recruitment strategy and his style of management.
He seems to have virtually discarded the likes of Meyer, Camarasa, Sorloth who have been brought in during recent windows.
He only seems to trust experienced PL players and this provides a conundrum for a club that is trying to build for the future.
Also our supposed 4 highest earners Zaha, Benteke, Sakho and Meyer are all contributing very little this season.
Where I don’t have sympathy is that our coaching seems exclusively designed to defend .
We don’t even look dangerous on the counter or from set pieces.
For me this is inexcusable.

Why the hell Roy didn’t have Wilf swap to the right today I’ve no idea. JA in a 451 he saw nothing of the ball .

Either go back to 442 or f it 352 with Tekkers and JA at least there may be a small chance of getting the ball in the box.

Any striker regardless of quality will see exactly the same. We do need a new striker but the midfield needs to change as well as you say.

Thankfully we haven't got to continuously play Chelsea.

or Leicester as we had the carbon copy yesterday, unsurprisingly as we had virtually the same team.

It's really odd because when looking at Roy with us last few seasons, he has used creative players on a regular basis but has totally changed his way of play this season.

When we had Cabaye and RLC, they played when they were available. But we certainly didn't have a better squad then, so it's a real puzzle why we are going so defensive.

I know there is an argument that Meyer and Camarasa might not be the answer/aren't good enough hence why they're not playing, but surely we need to give them an actual chance? They are not bad players at all - Camarasa was Cardiffs player of the season and Meyer has had glimpses of quality - but can't do anything if only given 15 mins every 5 games and then goes missing.

It's a shame Hodgson and the management above aren't connected at all. Clearly our transfer policy isn't reflecting what Roy wants.

It's incredible to see how many players in our 25 man squad have got under 5 appearances so far this season (not including GKs). Surely no other prem team is utilising such a small amount of players?

Dann
Sakho (Although injured)
Reidewald
Camarasa
Meyer
McCarthy (Played more than 5 but barely any real mins)
Wickham

Dann will struggle to get near the team again as we have 4 Centre Halves ahead of him.

Reidewald should have been put out of his misery and been allowed to leave, he looks bang average.

Camarassa, only god knows what the situation is there but there is more than meets the eye in my opinion.

Meyer hasn't had a lot of chances but he hasnt shown much when he has played albeit he is always played out of position so I do feel sorry for him.

James Mccarthy, I would love to se him getting into the team, he would offer a lot mpore than what we have.

Wickham, he is finished at his level.

Apart from them in midfield we did have Milivojevic and McArthur but also an ageing Puncheon,Chung-Yong,Rakip,Mutch etc.It made perfect sense to play Cabaye and RLC when they were available.

Also RLC is a better player than any of our midfield players so it made sense to play him.

We still had Schlupp in that squad too. How did we go from:

Zaha- Luka - Cabaye - McArthur/RLC - Townsend

to

McArthur - Schlupp - Luka - Kouyate - Zaha

Let's not forget, Reidewald made appearances that season - 8 under Hodgson. So he wasn't 1st choice, but also wasn't frozen out like he is now.

The question really is, what has happened that has made Hodgson believe he needs to stick with the same defensive-minded midfielders each week, rather than rotate and try something new with the vast selection of players in those positions at his disposal?

In the Championship yes good enough just like Gayle, in this league too risky ..mainly because we are already carrying too many dodgy players as it is.

Dare I say it but we need to look to Brighton for an example. Super cautious manager who maintains premier league status gets thrown out for a manager who has them playing football and moving up in the world. I must admit I had them as relegation certs but they have shown it doesnt need to be that way. You just need to get the right manager in and that is the challenge.

Don’t forget they also have recruited reasonably well, unfortunately
