As far as Welshness, or Englishness, frenchness, etc goes. You can argue whether it's right or not. There are times when it is clearly bonkers but when you watch the Welsh team line up singing the anthem you cannot doubt what THEY feel and it is certainly more than a flag of convenience. They are a football team. I'm sure it's daft to get all loyal to the banner of Crystal Palace but it happens. Nothing to do with nationality, everything to do with tribalism and solidarity.

All the players who represent us from Wales under 15's upwards are taught the Welsh national anthem & that includes a fair few anglo's.

How can anyone not wish a team with 3 Palace players success, two of them regular starters?

You are missing the point. It is an absurdity to claim to be fervently Welsh when you were born in England. Celebrate your heritage by all means but don't start dissing the country where you grew up and work because of some delusion of Welshness. It's gets more daft the more generations you are removed from the mother country. Where you are born means very little. If you are raised to have pride in your relatives, ancestry, heritage etc and there are Welsh genes in your make up then you are as Welsh as anyone. As the passionate displays by our boys are showing.

That's complete b*llocks of course but I do realise that if you support Wales then that's what you have to tell yourself.

And they wouldn't be playing football if it wasn't for the English League, in England where most of them live and make their living. Funny how most people of Scots, Welsh and Irish decent don't actually live in their own country but hate England. On your first point...Yes, which makes it all the more peculiar that anyone English would not support Wales, given that they're mostly products of your academies. On the second point...That's an easy statement to make and it's difficult to prove or disprove it. I propose a series of televised debates hosted by Dimbleby, followed by a national poll to resolve the issue once and for all. Might be a waste of time though as there's a high chance that the result will show that people of Scots, Irish and Welsh descent have varying views of England, even the English have varying views of England.
