Does that mean in a few years membership will decline?

Labour have a very young membership

Only 1% of UK population are members of a political party. In the UK, overall there has been a decline in party membership and I think we have the lowest membership rate in Europe.

Favourites invariably don't win Conservative leadership elections.
In the end the 150,000 members (Like me!) will decide and the membership have an average age of 68.
I'm keeping my options open at the moment !

Don't broadcast this. The young will blame you for ruining or f***ing up their future. If you're lucky you might get a thanks for it at the end.

Wouldn't rule out Andrea Leadsom. I think she was fantastic throughout the campaign.

I heard Andrea Leadsom on Woman's hour this morning. She was absolutely frightful - talked over everyone, failed to answer the question, stuck to her 'script' even when the conversation had moved on, was so bloody irritating that Jane Garvey clearly hated her and cut her off (thankfully) several times.

She shouldn't be in charge of anything larger than a biscuit tin. If it's a choice of Leadsom in charge or being dead, I'll take death every time.

And as for Boris Johnson having 'gravitas', I (and probably everyone on this board) have had bowel movements with more gravitas than that clown.

Haha - fair enough. I am admittedly going on a handful of appearances where I've liked her but I admit that I don't know a huge amount more about her.

So, final day for candidates to make themselves known.

Gove has, joined May and Boris in the ring now. Not a huge surprise.

Any more to join the fray today?

Hugely hugely funny if the lying Machiavellian scumbag that is Boris Johnson - who only went Leave because he hoped it would move him to the PM's job eventually - ends up missing out.

Maybe, maybe not. But the assumption was Gove would back Boris, so a big blow.
