I know this may be a crazy suggestion but what about Lacina Traore? I've seen talk about a big man and he certainly is big at 2.03m. In the 4-4-2 style he would be a good counterpart up front on the left side because he is left footed and Wickham is right footed. Also, he would be a massive aerial threat with all of the crosses we throw in the box

Can't see Wickham benefiting from another big man up with him, when he and Adebayor have played together they get in each others way. I think we need another big man to have as an option off the bench but not as starter alongside Wickham.

Or vice versa? If rumours about Slimani proved correct, he would start, leaving Wickham/Gayle as impact subs off bench?

I'm happy with Wickham as the lead striker, I think we could be deadly with him and someone like Danny Ings. After that I think all we need is a big inexpensive target man; Ricky Lambert perhaps, to hold the line late on. I think spending £15-20m on a target man that's going to keep Wickham (a £7-9m buy) on the bench is wasted money.

This will not happen.
In fact I don't think we will spend £15-20 Mill on any player.

Arouna Kone is another that has alway impressed me with his link up play with Lukaku and running in beyond him. Getting on a bit now though.

Really good call. I've thought that for a long time however Everton's status has become more of a yo-yo existence in Premiership in recent years. The key is to strengthen team and tactics to maintain OUR progress in the top tier, then the hope is that players of Kone's calibre have their lights switched on to discover more.

Lets just say Palace have spoken to an ex player about being a back up striker and if he will be happy with that roll…...
