New Labour's deal with Doctors has caused a lot of problems further down the line....much as was predicted at the time. I do think that certain doctors earn too much. It was the wrong way to deal with the problem....Short term solutions.

That said, I also think they are the victims of governmental mismanagement that has extended over decades. Poor planning and zero joined up thinking over government.

No one should be working those hours....no one....It should have never happened in the first bloody place.

Seth my post was to ALL junior doctors and not just your daughter. They get a good deal under the new contracts and will still get a great rate of pay. I think your attitude is deplorable in your rely and I feel someone should be giving you a yellow card for it. You do not have to be so rude and realise that your view is not that of other people and I think it is YOU that should keep your one sided union loving views to your self. The unions have made this dispute go from bad to worse and have lied to the doctors in question. EVERYONE works long hours these day but not all get the same sort of money offered to them as are the young doctors!!

What. The. F***? Seriously. So, the junior doctors know so little about their own pay & conditions they will easily accept "lies" from the BMA? All these presumably reasonably intelligent grads and post-grads can't work things out for themselves?

Sorry mate, you haven't got a Danny.

I am afraid they have been brainwashed by the unions in that they thought the government would go along with their demands but it has turned out that they either accept the deal or leave.... We shall see just how many do leave their well paid jobs shall we not. You have your views and I have mine which we are BOTH entitled to have.

Unions should stick up for their workforce. Sure there are unreasonable unions just as they're unreasonable governmental policies.

This is mainly a mess started by previous governments kicking cans down the road and all we are getting now is more short term solution stuff from this one.

The fundamental problems aren't being addressed because no one in government has the balls to address the real problems. The lack of joined up thinking means we just creak from one crises to another.

The left and parts of the right have let the population of this nation go upwards at a ridiculous rate. All the public services, in truth, can't cope.....They couldn't cope quite a long time ago and it's just worst now.

What do the middle class and elites do about it?....Well in the media they mostly slag off the service leaders themselves or the profession generally....But do they encourage their own children to join these professions and 'improve' them?.....The vast majority don't.

Good long stay professionals like Doctors don't come on conveyor belts and we can't produce them in anything like the numbers we need.

This has led to the....apparently approved by most of the left, brain drain of doctors from poorer countries.

The ideology is unsustainable and unethical....But hey ho...like that is going to stop the absurdity of it.

The problem is the usual mix of ideology before common sense and emotional thinking rather than reason.

Too many people only caring about picking up the cheque and pointing fingers at others.

My point exactly you have hit the nail on the head. As much as I respect the job that doctors do, I can see the point of people like myself that are angry. Doctors are one of the best paid professions and already have great prospects for pay they will receive when they become Senior Consultants. There is only so much money in the pot and its got to go around and its the nurses who deserve a pay rise if anyone does.

My wife works on the clinical side of the NHS, and there is so much more to this than meets the eye.

You can't just have doctors moved to a 7 day a week rota, you also need to have all the groups on the same scheme. For example, what is the point having doctors there at weekends if you don't have the same amount of support staff (ie. nurses etc)

By enforcing this contract on the doctors, it opens up the way to enforce the same type of contract onto the nurses and consultants down the line. And without putting any extra money into this either.

Discussions around the NHS staff talk about what is the government's objective here, and is there an end game we haven't seen yet.

The possible end game here being a move towards a privatised health system. And for those not aware, there are actually some parts of the NHS already privatised (which I didn't know either).

You got what you wanted with the card, well done.

I'm not going to debate the actual issue with you because you have no clue about it whatsoever so there's no point. You've also insulted my daughter and if I carried on with you I'd probably get banned.

I feel sorry for you that you've swallowed the government line so unquestioningly, but for someone who posted links to white supremacist websites in the past I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

I sincerely hope no-one in your family needs medical treatment and there's no doctors left to provide it because they've all left the profession or gone to Australia. Or they're so tired and demoralised they don't get the treatment they need. But if that does happen, I hope you remember your position on this dispute.

A lot of hospitals will be able to negotiate their own contracts with doctors anyway, which further fragments the NHS as a whole, but also runs a coach and horses though Twunt's cunning plan to impose the new contract.

I trust junior doctors to be aware of their own conditions and to be more wary of brainwashing than I do you being brainwashed by the papers you read. Where do you get your information from?

Same place that you do but we all read into things the way we want to and have our very own opinions!
