I'm not so sure it was particularly complex for the BNP per se. An irrelevance, not really, not that long ago they were winning seats in councils and even the European MP's. They've largely been rendered irrelevant by the rise of Britain First and the English Defence League (both of whom are stylised along a kind of neo-fascist sans style but with more ignorance than you can shake a stick at). It used to be the case that Nazis and Fascists actually could actually debate, argue and dress well. These pale imitations are more 'trouble seekers' than political.

More notably, UKIP has monopolised a lot of those voters that these groups have been prying away: those with more genuine concerns about immigration, euro skeptics and nationalist who aren't 'militant' styling - people abandoned by all three mainstream parties cosying up with business interests over national interests. UKIP unfairly sometimes get lumped in with the far right (as opposed to generally being further right - i.e to the right of the main stream conservatives).

I agree with some political aspects associated with the right wing, such as immigration control - all systems need regulation - but for groups like the BNP the issue has never really been about immigration - its been about 'where the migrant comes from' rather than what they can contribute to society.

What you say is largely true but I have a problem with the whole concept of racism and what it actually means.
I can't really read the minds of other people and it is particularly hard to grasp or even care about the though processes of such limited intellects like those of many BNP members.

I know next to nothing about them but I'd imagine that Facebook bowed to pressure to maintain their image and appear PC. Let's be honest, they would be accused of "racism" whether they were racist or not. Robust patriotism and outspoken objections to mass immigration is branded "racist" by many if the protagonists are white.

It's all about point of view I suppose.

Britain First? They harangue law-abiding small business proprieters who happen to be Muslim and Asian - like restaurant owners - so, unfortunately, they do appear to be, at the very least, bigots.

They unwisely allowed a TV crew to follow them for quite a while and they hung themselves by their own petard.

Not sure I'd go down that route. The Jews consider themselves a race despite the fact that any scientist worth their salt could destroy that notion easily.
If we are talking about "heritage" then that is definable by those concerned just in the same way as the Jews define themselves as a race. There is no scientific basis for either but if a population remains stable ethnically for multiple centuries and then is significantly changed by immigrants in a few decades then there is surely at least an argument to be had about the impact.
