My world is much better.

Pubs open pretty much all day, every day. No smoking too so you don't come out stinking of 2nd hand smoke. 100s or 1000s may have closed down but there are still plenty around.

Football. Palace in the top flight three years in a row and this time we don't appear to have an owner who would prefer to invest the profit in a new golf club.

Music isn't as good as it used to be, neither is nostalgia.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I'm worried that people will eventually stop speaking to each other and just communicate via mobile phones or devices.

Only older people give me eye contact and a cheery good morning as I walk down the street - the yoof have their faces firmly planted on the screen of their mobiles.

I agree. In general health issues are getting better, but communities are breaking up and identities are becoming much more fluid. That means people's interactions are becoming more uncertain, and in general people respond poorly to uncertainty. I blame the education for that, but technology and mobility certainly create the conditions for uncertainty in the first place.

But I think that the fluidity of identity is generally a good thing, we just have a tough time managing it. So it will get worse before it gets better.

A one and a two...

Entropy, things change. Good or bad are just really perceptions based on subjective values of how those changes affect you and align with ideas you hold about the world.

Change is inevitable, and driven by factors that are unpredictable consequences of events in the past, the outcome of which no one can really forsee. Good intentions, can create negative experiences, as much as bad can good.

I wonder if the families of the victims of the Bangkok atrocity agree. Wonder who did it by the way, who on earth would do such a thing?
