Mainly in your head and the Daily Mail.

So as usual your posts contain meaningless waffle.

What a representative you are for left wing politics. In fact I think you should be the poster boy....It's already laugh a minute schoolboy stuff.

It's only for one month isn't it?

Yep, just a trial and an attempt to make the police appear more friendly and inclusive.....

.....and an excuse for some frothing at the mouth from some.

The 'one month' addition was added the next day in a very minor release after the 'Met' received criticism.

Friendly and inclusive my arse....It's discrimination against one group to say they won't get a job if they apply.

Wanting recruits with second languages is one thing....Going about it like this is plain stupid.

Whilst I do agree with the sentiment, its worth noting that plenty of white British people have second and third language, as well as being qualified in such languages. A lot don't, but there are still a lot of british born people, even whites going back generations who have more than one language.

Certainly different ethnic and class backgrounds have an advantage, but I suspect the Met can pick and choose in terms of English only officers from the countries existing police officers.

This whole thing could have more sensibly handled by just adding to a normal recruitment ad that a 'second language is an advantage'.

Nothing wrong with that....No need to exclude people for any period of time.

Instead we get this silly rather random set of languages and a 'don't apply' message to the majority of British workers who have the one language. This isn't about the British aspect insomuch as its about how the management go about things.

Still, it provided me with an opportunity to moan about the politicized touchy feely leadership style of our modern Police service....Not the majority of coppers themselves I might add....Just their management.

It gets on my rather considerable tits.

Personally I think they should have just specified that they were looking for language specialists to join the police force in order to broaden the Police skill sets.

That's how every one else does it.

Then again the Met has a pretty good reputation for offending ethnic groups, its clearly expanded its catagories to include offending whites, British working class nationals.

Its Met Diversity, offend everyone, equally.

Yep, I agree.

Though I would add that there are plenty of non-white British people with just the one language as well of course. The skin colour isn't important.

It's not just the Met. I lived in Preston, Lancashire for quite a few years. I applied for the Lancashire Constabulary on two occasions. I didn't even make the interview stage, this despite being ex army, a personal trainer (so I have experience of dealing with people on a face to face basis), and being more than physically fit enough to do the job. You'll only get in the police these days if you are gay (no I'm not homophobic for arguments sake), an ethnic minority or you have some sort of of physical affliction. The whole selection process is a joke and the police I see these days are woefully out of shape, soft and bovinely stupid. Of course not all police are like this, but these days it's all about sexual orientation, ethnicity and having retail experience.
This is the police force the liberal elite wanted. This country is going to hell in a handcart.

The modern political take on The Police Force, sorry Service, is seemingly to turn it into a copy of Haringey Social Services.

This country becomes more and more pathetic by the year.

The PC crap, the junk food, obesity, the compo culture, gutter journalism, aggressive capitalism, etc, exported to the UK from the good ole US of A.

We must have had one serious identity crisis for quite a while now. Why we had to look West rather than closer to home for consumer culture influence and what is considered 'right and wrong' is confounding. Suppose it was all shiny and nicely packaged and difficult to resist.

Cheers.
