So have I got this right? When an outrage involves a white Christian, religion is central to them doing it, but when it is a non-white Muslim, religion has got nothing to do with it?

Nope, other way around. Any crime by - let me pick a religion at random - a Muslim, is deemed to be terrorism because Islam is inherently evil. Any crime by a Christian, even when clearly perpetrated with terrorist goals in mind, is treated as a lone nutjob who just lost the plot for a day and nothing to see here...move along.

I see, if someone chooses to move house, they are a racist! You are like John Cleese in the 'Life of Brian' blasphemy scene when they are stoning someone to death for saying the 'J' word.

Of course by your remarkable 'logic', by being married to a white person I am "plainly racist (discriminating negatively on grounds of race) to discriminate against prospective spouses on grounds of race by choosing not to marry them" !

Edited by derben (19 Jun 2015 7.33pm)

Your example is perhaps silly. If you did marry your wife because she was white and for that specific reason, it might be pertinent. If you would never marry someone as a matter of principle of a different race, that would be pertinent.

Your views about moving out if too many people of a different race to you move in are not something hidden and to your credit you don't dress them up as something else.I have my opinion about your views and stand by it;you disagree.

So to escape the wrath of politically correct champions like you, you had better tell Muslims that they should consider marrying infidels.

I know you have your opinions, but of course you are not prepared to directly state them.

I would move house if the characteristics of the neighbourhood changed in a way, and to such an extent, that I would prefer to live elsewhere; that is not racist. The changes may well be brought about by an influx of people of a different race, language, culture and religion. I would be moving because of the changes in the environment, not directly because of the people.

By the way, would you consider a black policeman racist if he joined the 'black police officers association'? (Of course you won't as no doubt you believe that only white people can be racist.)

So is it terrorism? The man in question wanted to affect an outcome from his actions, that were politically motivated, and reflective of a lot of 'Far Right Extremist' groups in the US, who see themselves as a vanguard movement for the 'White Race'.

Absolutely it's terrorism. But terrorism by white christians has always been excused for being perpetrated by rare, lone nutjobs, even though they a not rare, often not lone (nutjobs I'll give them, though).

Timothy McVeigh was a white christian who targeted the federal government. Not terrorism?

Dr. George Tiller was assassinated (in church) by a white christian, who had strong ties to ant-abortion activist organisations and probable aid and assistance from them in his murderous endeavour.

Cliven Bundy and his merry band of white christians faced down the federal government at his ranch in Nevada last year. The feds backed off because it was clear that it would end up in a shootout, and it was only over Bundy's persistent flouting of federal graving rules for his cattle.

There are many, many more examples. It's never labelled terrorism because they don't fit the preferred narrative of terrorists being non-christian and non-white.

Sorry, but it's hardly ''Terrorism''.
Had you said ''Racism'' then i'd agree.

Ah,muslims, thought you'd bring them into any thread on any topic sooner or later

Speaking as someone who was put out of a family will for shacking up with someone of a different religion, I might be in a slightly better position than you to speak about what my views are on people marrying people from a different race or religion and what I might tell people who object to such things

I think I have stated my opinions about your views very clearly.Your views as put more than once over a period of time in "general talk".Now, its a question of people of a differing race, ethnicity or religion changing your "environment"

I think you are in little doubt about what I think about your views. You disagree with my analysis, fair enough.

You state as fact that I believe only white people can be racist. That illustrates both your actual ignorance about my views on the topic and the fact that that ignorance does not prevent you having fantasised firm assumptions about them.

Shall we get back to the thread about the horrific murders in Charleston and the scourge of the vile racist views so many hold?

terrorism?

The pursuit of violence or intimidation for political ends...

The seeming murderer seemingly says:“You rape our women. And you’re taking over our country. And you have to go".

Racism? most certainly.

Terrorism? Why not?

I used a Muslim example as they are not known for marrying people of a different religion or race - in fact there have been many 'honour' killings over such relationships.

If you have personally experienced a clash of religion/culture in your choice of partner, I am surprised that you do not recognise that there are problems between people of different religions/cultures.

You still will not directly call me a racist although you obviously think it - why not? Man up! Have the courage of your politically correct delusions.

Of course my argument about moving is on changes to the environment. If the incomers did not change the environment, spoke good English, built churches, opened shops selling things I wanted to buy, joined me in the pub etc, why would I want to move?

There are many amongst the brave new politically correct that do say that black people are incapable of being racist because they were oppressed in the past. Hope for you yet if you don't subscribe.

What I have learned to recognise is IMO the breathtaking ignorance and crass stupidity of those who discriminate negatively in a meaningful way between people on the basis of race, religion or ethnicity and divide and generalise people up as a matter of course into such categories

Enough! Its not the purpose of this thread...Back to Charleston and ignorant racists...

Why?

A mad f-cker went crazy and shot some people that he didn't like. That, in a nutshell, is the sad story. MANY now wish to extrapolate as much political/racist leverage as they can for reasons known only to them?
Why?
Someone went nuts in a highly populated country where guns are easily bought!
There really is no need to over complicate matters to suit any particular 'stance'.
Why would you do that?
