The picture shows pins - that should never be allowed as its potentially lethal. Sounds like they're now trying to cover their tracks so I'd get on to a solicitor quick

And a question for experts, don't appliances at work need to be tested periodically?

If your not injured , why would you look to sue the firm that keeps you employed and pays your bills? Maybe tell them you got a bolt and they need to look at the socket and as you don't like the firm look for another job?!

In the photos you took it looks like a portable air-con unit under the socket, is that what's usually plugged in?

If it is, take a photo of the plug on the unit, it should have pins not socket

What are peoples opinions on this? If it had happened to you and the "male socket" wasn't suppose to be their what would you do?

Rubbish, the firm has shown a complete disregard for employee safety. The HSE should definitely be informed.

Things i'd be asking:

Who installed it?

Who signed it off?

Was a PAT test carried out? When was the last test? Who is responsible for this?

How long has it been there?

Where is the Risk Assessment for safe working in the environment?

Who carried out the Risk Assessment?

Was the socket installed after or before the last Risk Assessment was carried out?

Do you have any lasting effects from the shock? Numbness? Loss of feeling, pain flexing hand/arm muscles? burns?
