On his way to getting a Premier League winners medal.
Minimal chance of him even entertaining a chat with us!

The minimal number of appearances he's made, are you sure he's getting a medal?

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

even if we could persuade him to come to Palace his wages of approx. 80k per week are more than twice our best paid player.

All every well affording the transfer fee but it's the whole package you have to consider.

Palace have been quite prudent re transfers and wages over the last 2 seasons so Remy might be a step too far too soon.

Granted, but THAT'S the money for quality and a lot less I'd say than Costa Fortune. There's only so much you can get 'on the cheap' and if we aren't going to do it properly and cough-up for players like Remy, then, instead of getting lesser grade players, we ought to stick with what we have, and I'd be happy with that. I really don't believe in the 'bargain basement' mentality evidenced by some of the candidates touted about (see Strikers for next year thread). If we want a top striker for next year Chelsea trained Loic Remy fits the bill. The PL is far too lucrative now to be trying to do it on the cheap.

in the summer we had a £8m bid accepted for Cardiff's Chaulker and supposedly offered him £42k a week.

he went to QPR for £60k a week instead. His choice.

Even if we could offer Remy a salary that would match his current one we will be competing with other clubs, most of whom will have more support, more history, higher profile and probably deeper pockets than us - that's the reality of where we are.

Also I still remember signing Lombardo. Yes a great signing and I was as excited as every other supporter. However, the reality is he was on approx. 3 times more than our top earner at the time so wages quickly increased across the board and we were in administration a year later.

If we smash our wage bill for 1 player there will be a knock on impact with at least 6 or so players agents asking for a pay rise too.

As a club we are where we are, so I for one feel the slow progressive growth achieved by the current owners is the right way to go.

He was good for Chelski today . I would love him to come to Palace but I fear he is too good for us but am I being too unambitious?

We have NO chance of signing Remy. Chelsea will keep him seeing as Drogba will not be playing next season.

If they did let him go then it will be big money, big wages and to a bigger team than us unfortunately.

No chance. Being linked to a couple of old Pardew players most likely, nothing more. But i'd still like us to give it a go quality players.
