I don't understand the article as it says that if the presenters were paid by invoicing from their companies then it would save income tax at 45% as only 20% Corporation Tax would be payable. That is only true if the presenter didn't draw any money out of his company as drawings whether by salary or dividend is still taxed. If presenter A has unpaid tax which the BBC pays on his behalf doesn't that become a benefit in kind which is taxable? What they do is to make their Drawings (or Director's Remuneration in the case of a Ltd Co.) the maximum amount before Tax and NIC are payable, and then they take the rest as a Dividend at 20% tax level. I understand that as it's what I do but any dividends over the limit is taxed at the usual rates anyway. There are tax savings but not on a massive scale and it still doesn't answer my point that if the BBC pay their tax for them it's a benefit in kind and therefore taxable. It's also not exactly good PR for the BBC to pay the tax on behalf of it's millionaire presenters at the same time as making the skint over 75s effectively pay this tax for them

Has Hol become an old haunt for tax and finance savvy analysts or what? I'm going to have to seriously consider jotting some of this down! Edited by Stirlingsays (05 Jul 2019 5.53pm)

'US politician insists on chaperone for interview with female reporter' [Link] Not sure why this is of interest to a UK audience? But if there's a chance for the BBC to mock Christians in the US, then it's fair game.
