I haven't attributed negative characteristics to any group but it is your stock response to any criticism of anything by anyone. I'm very happy to slag of 'Brits' if they deserve it. If we all recognised and acknowledged faults in our own demographic then we might not have so many problems. Sadly, some are so entrenched or indoctrinated that they are incapable of self criticism or objectivity.

But you still want a solution that is effectively collective punishment.

If there are any sects within those branches that don't then they obviously aren't going to have any issues with reforms of those that do....hell knows sects within Islam have been prosecuted for centuries.
