I’ve not seen him run past anyone this season let alone ‘burn’ past anyone and for Daniel Burn of BHA to outpace him recently was quite something. He’s still a very good player and extremely skilful and he can beat people with his skill but he has lost that explosive turn of pace that he used to have. Wilf himself seems to be aware he can’t beat people purely on pace these days, hence his tendency to put his foot on the ball, turn back towards his own half and slow the play right down. How many times have we sung, “He’s just too good for you” this season...compared to a couple of years ago?

He still brings the bums off the seat (at least mine from sofa in Thailand), but yes - Wilf has lost his exciting pace. Too much weigh-lifting? Annoying the way he most of the time stops when he gets the ball before taking on 2-3 players.

Zaha is yesterday’s news. Maximin kind of player will be talk of the boardrooms now while clubs will steer clear of Zaha on £130k a week and his entourage’s games, the declaration Wilf’s deserving of champions league football only to have a very mediocre season that’s worth paying 60-70% max of those wages, same as the depreciation I think we’ve seen from the value I had him at of £60mil, down to what just above what Arsenal bid in the £45 mil region. A winger trying to play walking football round defenders now isn’t going to be as wanted as powerful, speedy and skillful wingers. Look on the possible bright side. We might have wasted his sale money or be taken for every penny possible as we tried to evolve the team.

He’s already on £130k, not really performing, playing in a shackled system, waiting for the opposition to get set before dribbling at all of them. How much more do you want to pay Zaha to build ‘the team’ around him?

Why has he lost his pace? He's 28 not 38. Top class sprinters peak at his age. I can only assume it's a long term injury he's playing with. He may recover after the summer break.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Zaha has lost the zip, verve, vim and vigour than has excited us all in the past.Once there was great expectancy and excitement whenever he received the ball in advanced areas but alas the frissons of excitement have somewhat waned this season. Any clubs interested in his services will not offer anything remotely like what the club were asking.

Zaha has not looked himself all year. I don't know if it's due to an injury or sulking, but either way, no CL club is going to shell out big money for a player who scores 3 goals as the featured player. I have no idea what Zaha expects or wants. Playing CL football is a crazy demand for someone who has been so ineffective for us this year. He would barely make the bench for Liverpool or ManCity at his current form. If he wants to go to a bigger club and be a bench player, great, but it seems like a stupid request. And he's been so bad that we won't even get a decent return for him. If we got 50K for him, I'd sell him in a second. Less than that, why bother selling him. I feel like Ayew is now more valuable than Zaha.

Thing is time is running out for him to get that big move... Agree about how impressive Ayew has been... I’m certainly one who has to eat humble pie as I was the first to slag the club off when we signed him.... Thank god we did!! And for peanuts as well!!
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

This should have been Zaha's season to show what he can do and be in the shop window - head down, let the football talk after the mess of last summer. There is and was so much chatter of wilf signing 5 years to protect the club with a decent fee if a club came along and with a gentleman's agreement that would be the case (we all know about parish and handshakes - Holloway). It's just not happened. I can see him being sold for like 45 plus add ons which would raise it to 55/60 (winning euro cup etc or league) and I can see Parish going around saying he sold him for 60 to save face. This season could have been the season that wasted his chances, if he doesn't get a move this summer he never will, or the season that is a wake up call for not only Zaha but Parish and they both think, let's build around each other - Zaha stays and parish invests. I can't see that happening either.
