Precisely. I don't see why one could get excited over the prospect of Schlupp playing a part in any first team plans, but I agree with the rest

Hodgson needs to be shown the door and pretty damn quickly. Between himself, Dougie and Parish we have assembled a piss poor squad. No full backs, limited creativity, zero pace (except Wilf) and devoid of confidence in front of goal. With no options to add to the squad for 4 months we need to make the only change that we can. Get rid of Hodgson and get somebody with some bloody passion. Back to basics with wingers chopping in crosses for a target man and get some energy back in the middle. If we stick with Roy for sentimental reasons there is a good chance we could be buried by the time the window opens again. Roy will continue to play the same XI and same tactics week after week and will not adapt his style in the twilight of his career. His set up means we nullify our own biggest threat by having him play back to goal. But hey, let’s bring on Schlupp for the final 20 mins and that’ll fix it! I think it’s inevitable he will get canned at some point this season and my only hope is that we don’t wait until it’s too late.

I've been one of Roy's biggest advocates but didn't like too much of what he did today in terms of starting line up or subs despite the squad limitations. He needs to stop fvcking around with integrating the new players if they're better than what we have. Cahill is a decent footballer and Camarasa brings attacking intent. We got bullied today as well and perhaps could have done with Kouyate's strength and legs. Ayew should be given a run up front. Too many excuses being made for Benteke's lack of endeavour and bollocks.

There is always someone who is happy to ignore the criminal lack of signings and total ineptitude of our existing strikers and blame the manager. In fact, Hodgson is one of the few positives about our club right now.

Both Dougie and Parish we responsible for not signing quality replacements and leaving us woefully short in a number of positions. Problem is sacking the Sporting director or chairman isn’t really an option. Only choice is to change the manager, the tactics, the formation and try and get the current squad playing somewhere near max potential.

Hodgson isn't the best manager of all time, but who else is there? Pep guardiola couldn't get a better tune out of that squad. He's off at the end of the season with Wilf too, so no point spending big this summer only for the new manager not to fancy the new boys and have to start again. Plenty of rubbish teams like Brighton to prop us up. Hopefully Parish thinks same as me and it's all part of a big plan, but I'm not too sure lol Edited by craig321 (19 Aug 2019 8.03am)

Maybe Roy is too old now and can't motivate the players? He has his favourites and his subs again today were awful. Not sure who is available tho. I wouldn't want Roy sacked, was hoping he'd retire or leave but can't see that happening.

Hodgson is a top class manager at a Mickey Mouse club. Who would you replace Hodgson with and what makes you think in your wildest dreams that another manager would get better results? In Roy we have possibly the most experienced managers in UK football. He has managed all over Europe and Scandanavia with some success. Reading between the lines he is not happy with our transfer dealings and the latest excuse from Dougie ( we didn't sign anyone as we had so much money everyone was overpriced)- simply does not wash. We failed to sign anyone as we seem to have a chairman and Sporting Director who seem to have no real understanding of the market and any reliability to spot the players we need. Can we honestly believe there was and has not been for over 2 years a striker that we could buy anywhere in the world? Maybe time for the Doug to move on.
