With the greatest of respect, my comment was borne out of the fact that someone mentioned words to the effect that it was a tad premature to discuss relegation with so many matches left to play.
I was merely asserting that in a conversation last night with a Southampton supporter I stated that I was not condemning his team to relegation when they had 16 matches still to contest.

You accuse me of trying to impress HOL with "Limitless intuition".Suffice to say I display self-deprecation and not self-promotion.I am just a humble chap, I don't have an ego sprouting as fast as Clematis Montana.

why bother compete in a league for so long if you cannot challege for anything other than just making sure we dont finish in the bottom 3?

even if the worst happened and we got relegated twice to league 1 then so be it?!?!? id still have my season ticket and we would push on to hopefully win the league!!

as someone else said, this premier league marlarky used to be fun... but not any more.... just my opinion though

Your argument is nonsensical along with others, who want to get relegated. Only to try and win promotion and get back again! What do you think will be different, if we came back. The club would of been striped of its best players and TV money, look what happened to Jordan after relegation a spiral of debt.

Yes he also taught in the area before moving to the Scandic nations and picking up quite a few languages on the way

[edit]
Hodgson was born in Croydon, Surrey.[5] His mother was a baker in the town, and his father, Bill, a Newcastle United fan,[6] worked as a bus driver south of the River Thames.[6] Hodgson's family lived in the same building as Steve Kember, one of Hodgson's schoolmates at John Ruskin Grammar School.[5][7] The two played in the school football team, a side which also included Lennie Lawrence.[7] Bob Houghton, who would go on to play a prominent part in Hodgson's career, joined the school in the sixth form.[7]

Probably because it was gifted to us rather than earned.

I think the problem is, it’s not going to get any better than it is now for us, understandably with our ground as it is and our lack of spending power compared to other teams. So it’s all getting a bit same old same old and a bit tedious now. Although I don’t want relegation for the obvious reasons, if it did happen, I’d be looking forward to next season because it would freshen it up after 10 years of basically survival, because they’d obviously be a massive turnover of players and playing different teams again.

I know it’s not good financially, but I don’t have to balance the books, I just go to watch the football, whoever we’re playing.

As a club we need to stay in the PL any talk of preferring to be in the championship is all romantic cobblers really - we need the dough.

It took us 10 years to get out the division last time and the club was nearly liquidated. After 10 seasons and over £1bn of prize money its bewildering the state we appear to be in with regard to the playing squad, it's bordering on incompetence. We've not had a proper striker since Glenn Murray and we still only have one left back and have to play right backs at left back when he's injured, similar to when we first came back up - my mind boggles.

Looking at the next seven fixtures I don't see many points coming our way, 2 maybe 4 if we're lucky. Then there's a little run of 5 games when I reckon our season will be decided and we should really be looking to get 10 points from 15 - quite a big ask really with this lot.

I think we may just stay up, but the real question the will be how much we have to spend next season and who we could get in, bonkers really when we should have been plundering the championship for players over the past few seasons strengthening squad depth.

My disillusionment isn't with the PL its with the way the club has been managed. Mid table every season, bringing players through, selling players on, a cup run every now and again and improving Selhurst bit by bit would be fine with me...sod europe. I just hope we don't look back at these PL years from the Championship kicking ourselves on what should have been.

good post. With our high wage bill and with 9 players out of contract this summer IMHO relegation would be a disaster.
For every Burnley, look at say Stoke (who have the Bet365 owners behind them) and Huddersfield.

However, it was almost 2 years since the 2-1 win away at the scum. Palace as a team looked clueless. 11 highly paid professionals who tried hard but appeared to have no clear approach as to how they were to play as a team. Roy was clearly going to go that summer.
Last Saturday bought back similar thoughts.

As a club we just looked clueless. PV wants to play more possess football yet we had 25% in a home game. Something is clearly not right. I personally don't like sacking managers as per Watford but we need to play a style that suits the players we have.
If PV and his sidekick Roberts can't see that maybe they do need to move on
