The record books will show that under Hodgson, England only lost 8 out of 56 games.

They’ll also show 0 wins at the 2014 World Cup, and the only win at Euro 16 being a last minute winner against Wales. Across those tournaments we failed to beat any of; Slovakia, Russia, Iceland, Costa Rica, Uruguay or Italy.

No one cares about beating San Marino and Gibraltar in qualifying.

It was said at the time, in different ways, that the PL is a great advert for our football but it does the national team no good whatsoever.

Poor Roy... no chance we could beat Slovakia and Iceland when our domestic league is so good.

I have just two questions:

1. To Roy Hodgson

How can an experienced manager like you completely and utterly fail to motivate your team ?

2. Steve Parish

Are you not testing the fans' blind loyalty by, in effect, saying next season we MIGHT just stay up by again playing the manager's same negative style ?

Answer to 1. - he obviously can't and has no idea what to do.

Answer to 2: he is gambling that he does not have to step in come December with a new manager.

I know someone who spoke to Ray Lewington about the Iceland game.
Lewington confirmed that their preparation was as meticulous as ever but the players just "Froze" on the day.Such is football.

I cannot see anything in his managerial career that puts him as a candidate for other than an assistant manager role perhaps being mentored to take over from someone.

See the ' Chris Powell ' thread...I was joking !

I'd go for Eddie Jones, strong on defence and attack, got England to a World Cup final and takes no nonsense. Different sport, but hey ho

How have we got an average squad we are around mid table squad and plenty of international players.

Squad is the magic word that Roy doesn't understand 25 men he appears to only know 13 max.

Correct he does have another year contract.

I agree who would want to come to us maybe if they knew Wilf was going and they had the money more interest but this club doesn't have good record of that does it we sell Wilf and SP does a bunch of super cheap or free players only.

The whole club needs full new owner ship not just Americans maybe when this takes place a manager of their choice will come in until then SP loves Roy so he wont get rid of him unless we was relegated.

Just because you have at sometime in your career played international football does not mean your a good player in the current squad (Benteke/WH for example). Cahill for has 61 caps but at 34 whilst still our best CB is unlikely to feature for England again as is Townsend. Of the current squad who are current internationals Riedewald is the best prospect and of course we must not forget Wilf, who is of course an international but way of form this last season with only 2 goals.

if our squad was that good with all its international then the goals scored 30 proves otherwise.

As you rightly point out mid table would says our squad is average but as we are currently 14th and therefore in the bottom half of the table.

Thes rest we are in agreement I think!

Yes, but they did spend smartly 62 million plus some good loans with an average age of arrivals being 25.51

Indeed £62 Mill 'Net Spend'.
I believe they have signed 15 players this season which includes loans.

There is a lot of very valid and honest opinions being expressed as there are many ways to skin a cat so to speak.
The club has surely only one aim and that is to remain in the Premiership to finish as high as possible at the lowest outlay.
If you accept that premise, and I accept you might not, then you have to make a decision on the way forward from where we are now.
We have a squad of players capable of keeping us in the league but they are ageing and it needs updating. From the clubs point of view do you update with a new man at the helm or let the present management introduce the changes needed to overcome the ageing squad? . I would suggest due to the fact that the funds we have for updating the squad is not great then the safest option is to let the present management tweak the squad in such a way that younger players can be brought in to compliment the basic strengths of the squad.
There is not the funds available to bring in a new management with fresh ways of playing and with the certainty of keeping us in the league, it is too risky.
If we were to be taken over with excessive funds say like potentially Newcastle are then it is a different story.
If I was on the board of the club I would want to continue with Roy and use his experience to effect the changes with an eye on change in 12 months time. There is no doubt the club is at a crossroads if they get it wrong they could well end up losing their status irrespective of the manager. COYP
