Thousands marched for Tommy Robinson’s release in central London last Saturday. People want to close down people's freedoms. I will never bend the knee to these people. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Jun 2018 2.21am)

But you are the kind of guy who wants to censor people for having opinions that don't fit with the official line. You are the kind of guy who is happy to see people with opposing views have their livelihoods threatened. I agree with censorship of hate preaching in civilised society yes. There should never be room for this type of thing from either side. And before you ask “it’s alright for them to do it though is it?”

What arguments have been lost? It's a general argument that when you lose arguments the next resort is to call to censor your opponent. There have had various arguments on the thread, for example saying that you can be racist to a religion and that Tommy Robinson is coming for the Jews next. Originally posted by DanH
And who is far left? Those calling for censorship. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Jun 2018 10.14am)

General problem for the Left is that they have gone so far down the Rabbit hole of Identity politics that they are almost incapable of understanding any nuances in political stances. So TR can be lauded by Sikh organisations, visit Israel, have black mates and generally be representative of a cosmopolitan British culture but because he expresses less than positive views about elements of Islam he must be a raving fascist. I also think that the Left have a disturbing, almost schizophrenic, attitude towards Islam that is beyond confusing. Logic should dictate that those on the Left would be those most rabidly anti-Islam given its stance on a entire raft of issues which they proclaim to champion. Just the Gay rights issue alone should ensure this. And yet the Left seemingly champion a belief system that is at complete odds with almost the entire progressive zeitgeist. But they seem incapable of being able to comprehend that because all they see is that Islam, in the main, is primarily a religion adhered to by non-white people so therefore they must throw themselves in front of anybody who dares to challenge it.

Then there are folk like me who just think that something isn’t quite right when skinhead thugs are rioting in the capital. Paint me left if that’s what that makes me. If you think the folk in attendance on the weekends agreviances stop with their intolerance towards Islam, then you’re very much mistaken.

I think this is symptomatic of a generation that is told what to think in education and by the media and seems incapable of thinking beyond it. Their whole lives have been an exposure to propaganda, very similar to how it would be in a religious community.

If you think the folk in attendance on the weekends agreviances stop with their intolerance towards Islam, then you’re very much mistaken. And still you evade the issue. TR rose to prominence, due to the reaction to extremist Muslims in Luton and how they protested a march by the local Army regiment on their return from Afghanistan. And now TR is in prison due to his coverage of yet another grooming case involving Muslims. There is a common theme here. Yes, the violence was unedifying and achieves nothing, always worthy of condemning but that does nothing to address the underlying stresses that exist within our nation. Is it all about a growing Islamic population? Then no. But there are no doubts that Labour councils, at the very best interpretation of the various official reports, deliberately chose to ignore what had been going on with regards to the grooming scandals. And at worse, actively colluded (I believe in Rotherham there was clear evidence of supposedly secure files being destroyed inside council offices). It all adds to the wider perception that the Left effectively champions the rights of foreign born nationals, or non indigenous cultures, over that of the native population with Islam in particular being afford a status that is puzzling given its extremes of belief. Out of interest, do you think that a growing Islamic population, and influence, on British society is a positive?

Have a look at the people that turned up yesterday and caused grief. Apparently, two arrests from thousands of people. Why don't you look at WHY these people and Tommy want a voice instead of trying to put your fingers in your ears and denying there's a problem. If the authorities actually did their job, there would be no Tommy. Edited by Penge Eagle (11 Jun 2018 11.44am)
