Roy took this job because it was his boyhood club and he felt he wanted another shot at the PL. I can’t see him taking another job abroad again. As for staying at Palace I think he is becoming distinctly annoyed by the lack of support from the board and their inaction, which probably stems either from a lack of money and no director backing or a reticence to continue to support Roy’s style of football. The latter, if correct, could mean that Roy’s tenure is coming to an end. All speculation of course but it would explain the current lack of transfer activity. The next 6 months are going to be huge for Palace’s future Yep, reading between the lines they saw Roy as the safe pair of hands that could ride them through this patch of underinvestment until the Americans are out without making too much of a fuss. I think the injuries has caused Roy’s patience to wear thin of not replacing AWB and another striker. Put this together with Roy’s turgid style of play and clearly making a statement to not use certain unwanted players has caused Parish and Co to rethink Roy’s position and it seems Roy may be doing the same. Hence the stalled contract. There’s a massive overhaul of the squad needed shipping players out on chunky contracts and brining younge, cheaper players in. You can only speculate they could be re-thinking the situation.

Hodgson has said he’s looking for additions who can go straight into the team as opposed to players to bolster the squad.

I am not sure who Dazza's source is but it is probably someone within the club. Roy also thought Walker Peters was going to join, so the intel was probably good in that we were making a genuine attempt to sign him. What has happened between times is either 1) SP has arsed around with the deal and tried to unsuccessfully (no surprise there) low ball Levy. Or 2) We weren't happy about the KWP deal (either the loan terms or the sign terms) and there is another (better) deal going on in the background that is felt more favourable long term. I really hope that for once, it is the latter because if we get no defender in this window then I do fear the worst and the fans will undoubtedly show their angst.
