Blame DfT. Union have only asked for safe working practices. The company offered money, they refused and said they'd prefer safe working practices. This costing each driver thousands, and all they want is safety.
Hats off to them. Shame on Southern/DfT for sending letters saying they will not negotiate with drivers... after that it was always gonna be industrial action

How about instead of point scoring on behalf of Southern (although I don't think anyone is backing them as a company) or on behalf of the unions, some people actually acknowledge that Helmet is saying that his (and therefore others') livelihood could be at stake?

Because they are so blinkered they can only see one side of the dispute. They don't even accept the possibility that there are two sides and, in this one, a third side which is being damaged by their inability to communicate. Waste of time.

I wonder what the big chef union leaders on over a hundred grand would do if their job was on the line,if people are losing their jobs over this that's just not right.

Well done ASLEF.

What am I missing? Why should RMT be allowed in to talks between Southerns and ASLEF? That's like me asking to be present at my colleagues' salary negotiations because I'm an interested party

I guess the one thing in their defence was the title of this thread and the question being asked. At the start there was a lot of union bashing. But I think it's time for people to realise the only side to be on in this battle are the people that pay thousands of pounds for a service they aren't getting.

From the RMT. I'm expecting criticism of it from those who don't read it as it's a bit long..

One of two
