Why not? It's Halal so won't cause offence and would be a sign of friendship. Offering your hand to those who might accept it, whilst being resolute with those who seek to harm you, makes sense to me.

Time and the drip, drip effect of exposure to British culture and values, especially of the children in our schools, will gradually pay dividends. "Smashing" anyone up isn't going to solve anything except your own anger. History contradicts you.

Your naivety is touching. Your ignorance is disturbing. Nothing is ever achieved without effort. Success is almost always preceded by many failures. It’s only the tenacious who make things happen.

Time and the drip drip effect don't have much effect on religion. Actually they do, but more importantly they affect how people personally interpret the religion they were born into. I was born into a family that accepted Christian belief without question, was a choirboy, server, confirmed and expected to be an active memeber for life. Then I started to think for myself.

The fundamentals of human nature don't change. Strangely, and unusually, I agree with you. So what are the fundamentals of human nature? Whilst there has been a lot of debate about this over the ages there is now a general acceptance that humans have the capacity to be good, even though they are not all good. They possess the senses of compassion, shame, distain, respect, courtesy, right and wrong.Humans have a constitution comprising emotional predispositions that direct them to goodness. We are all humans. Religious belief is secondary.

That's the Middle East sorted out then. Makes you wonder why they don't just snap out of it.
