Didn't Bielsa offer to manage Everton's U21 before taking over next season, but didn't want the first-team job straight away? If that rumour was true I doubt he would have a different offer for us. There seems to be this idea that Roy is our best chance of safety, but he hasn't got a team playing well in about 3-4 years. Luck was very much on our side in his final season in which we limped to the finish line with most people questioning whether he had the energy or speed of thought for the modern PL. Benitez hasn't done anything noteworthy for years either and basically always moans about not being backed. Do you really see him being attracted to us on that basis? Favre reads like he would be a good fit, but obviously he's never managed in the PL. Also, would he risk his reputation on the job after his problems at Nice? For me I'd go for Hassenhutl on the basis he has PL experience, he gets his teams on the front foot and he gets his teams playing football that will get the crowd behind him. Southampton have also not improved since he left and have a lower points per game since he left despite significant spending in January. Im sure i heard Bielsa wanted 1 mill a month for him and his buddies to manage Everton , cant see Parish going for that . I would love to see big Sam and little Sam back but he said there was no way back . My choice would be Lucien Favre.

I think Roy has been a fantastic servant to not only this club, but football as a whole. He should be knighted. As others have pointed out, he's great at getting a team defensively organised and well drilled. Will that be enough with us now. I think it's going to take a lot of time to get Eze and Olise well drilled. I'm not longer he's the right man for us now. Originally posted by PJEagle
Adolf hasn't managed in the PL, Roy has to great effect. Lampard has had two PL experiences in the PL . OK he was sacked but very few managers aren't.

I suspect that all of the potential managers named on here would not be interested in the job When I return from my holiday no doubt more of my thoughts and observations on this topic will be divulged! Edited by Willo (20 Mar 2023 6.03pm)

In these troubled times, it's always comforting to have something to look forward to. Hope we don't have to wait too long.

The club have made a very risky call in removing PV. It is for sure there is a lot going on in the background surrounding PV that none of us are privy to and it may well be that the Club feel that as well as being unable to get a win PV has lost his desire to be at the club and if this is anywhere near a valid assessment then they were justified in relieving PV of his duties. To make a call like that without a replacement lined up is just plain poor. A new manager of their choice should be appointed not only to keep us in the league but also to carry us forward in the style they perceive they want. They should not shy away from appointing someone who may fail to keep us in the division as it will give us a head start on the rebuild. By bringing back Roy as much as we all appreciate his ability shows clearly that the Club has no idea what they are looking for in a manager. It is not about giving themselves time to get the right man it is about their lack of forethought. If they know who they want and have to wait until the end of the season then they have to have someone in the short term but I can’t imagine the affect this will have on the players as it was not what they signed up for. Stick with Paddy until they get their man but don’t go backwards with a short term Roy, Sam etc. I have no idea what the Club’s vision is of the future to know what type of style they want but we are essentially a mid table team and can only expect to get an up and coming manager not a current top name. Whoever it is for sure we all need to stand by our team. COYP

(Making it hard to pick u pthe pieces when sacked) Favre has to be by far the best candidate, and is out of work. But cant see him wanting to come here. Was the preferred candidate over PV previously. Decent CV, plays good football, renowned for being great at working with young players. Bought Haaland when he was at Dortmund.

Going to be a bit of a let down for him having trained Haaland to have to coach Mateta and Edouard. Originally posted by MrRobbo

We have hardly any top coaches so it's probably best for us to bring in a whole team, ready made.

It's interesting every time we need a new manager. It's a case of whoever is flavour of the month. Generally someone young and up and coming. At the moment t seems to be Kompany, Carrick and Stills. Appointing Viera was similar and when he came some on here were lauding him as the 2nd coming. If you look at Still's history he s still extremely raw. May well prove to do well in the future but needs to develop and gain experience. A lot of the time these managers don't make it the Prem (Lampard, Jones). Honestly for me I do think Roy is right on an interim bass until the end of the year he will get us the points we need. Then after that my top 3 are: 1. Biesla think Biesla knows his stuff, well respected in the game and his high energy/tempo philosophy could rejuvenate the younger players get results and be exciting to watch. Leeds fans still rate him very highly, which speaks volumes. Edited by Mwncisee (20 Mar 2023 12.50pm) Bielsa does a lot of homework on trams before committing, I do not think he would give us a second glance with our running stats
