He just took penalties cause he had cost 30 million and probably had it stipulated in his contract in the first year, to make him look more awesome. Originally posted by Ecopalace
I disagree there are plenty of players that would score 15 goals in a prem season playing for mid to lower prem league team. Yes his goals kept us up that season, no doubt about it. How about players who would score more than 19 in 97 matches??

So we bought Benteke and Sakho for roughly the same price as we got for Wan B. I know who I would rather have at CP and on a fraction the salary cost.
SP is however a very astute businessman. Building a structure takes time and we may have gone up too soon. I’m not sure RH is the right person to fit with that - he has never been one for bringing youth through, or changing his style.

Very hard to bring youth through or change style when big money is involved with staying in premiership. Many a great manager have tried and failed doing exactly that in the premiership

Here we go again. Yet another transfer window about to end in debacle. Same as the last one when we failed to land the striker and RB we were after. Can someone explain why we appear to be so inept in the transfer market?

Can someone explain why we appear to be so inept in the transfer market? As no club was prepared to pay that last summer, it's fair to assume that there won't be any now. Some of Zaha's performances this season, so far, haven't exactly helped his cause and it's rumoured that his wage demands have gone stratospheric.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Personally I'm still optimistic we'll see a couple more players through the door; however, should that not happen I wonder what Roy's reaction will be. He has clearly become very agitated at the lack of support in terms of transfers, but at the same time what would he do if he left? If I was a betting man I would say two in, one out (Wickham) before the window shuts and Roy to say 'there were a few others we were after but we couldn't get them over the line'

As to supposed offers in China and Saudi Arabia I suppose it's possible, but at his age he might not fancy all that travelling and being away from his family. I don't expect him to quit, but I'm not as confident as I was that he will extend his deal.

Roy took this job because it was his boyhood club and he felt he wanted another shot at the PL. I can’t see him taking another job abroad again. As for staying at Palace I think he is becoming distinctly annoyed by the lack of support from the board and their inaction, which probably stems either from a lack of money and no director backing or a reticence to continue to support Roy’s style of football. The latter, if correct, could mean that Roy’s tenure is coming to an end. All speculation of course but it would explain the current lack of transfer activity. The next 6 months are going to be huge for Palace’s future
