The Americans have a great deal to answer too, complete disaster IMO. No understanding of football in any shape or form, We need to sort the ownership issue asap and the redevelopment urgently. You have zero evidence any of the poor recent mistakes are anything at all to do with two investors that leave PARISH to run the club.

I look at it this way. If you set aside the fact that Parish is a part owner, is he doing a good job in his role of Chairman / CEO or whatever his title is ? This transfer window looks like another attempt to paper over the cracks by signing players that are past their best. Once again key positions have been overlooked. By all means cash in one a right back for £50m but the attempts to replace him were either deliberately botched by pursuing unrealistic targets or just incompetent. Parish appoints Freedman and I see little evidence that between them they know what they are doing in the transfer market. I have given Parish the benefit of the doubt previously but I’m getting to the point where I’m starting to really lose confidence in him. I don’t think we will go down this season but after our placing last season I think we will be looking more at the clubs below us than those above. So much for his comment about having to run just to stand still

And they were unaware of the problems Randy Lerner had at Villa? Can't believe it.

After longest period of time in the top league we approach the new season. Each year I have noticed a creeping Charlton Athetlec attitude. We are Palace a club that has been a ragmuffin yo-yo all my life I am now 60. Some of supporters believe we should be able to spend more buy better players yada yada yada, The owners want the club to be succssful but they know what we can afford, so they work within a budget. We will not buy success we are not Arsenal or any of the big clubs we are Palace are equals are Norwich,Southhampton etc. Please folks enjoy the rollercoaster ride. If you want success on a money plate try the top six sides. Edited by johnmcormick8 (09 Aug 2019 5.57pm)

They did however expect that having received £45 Mill for a full-back he would be replaced given our options at the club in this position.I think that they also hoped for a strengthening in the forward line given that Benteke,Wickham and Ayew scored 4 goals between them last season and that Batshuayi has returned to Chelsea. Supporters are aware that we cannot match the spending of the majority of clubs in the PL but they hoped for a far better window given the deficiencies in the squad.

Edited by johnmcormick8 (09 Aug 2019 5.57pm) I don't agree with that all and have seen very little of that mentality which is built around complacency that your club has somehow cracked the premier league and should be in Europe. What I am reading is anxiety over the chances of relegation due to not filling key positions and having to rely on a disenchanted top player to keep delivering the goods. I see most supporters well aware we have been fortunate to survive in many of the seasons of this spell in the PL and although the late run of points has given us a bit of leeway by the end there is the knowledge that the margins are very fine and we are definitely one of the clubs at risk each season. Having two right backs and two left backs - particularly when the current first choices are a bit suspect is not arrogant. Wanting a striker that has a realistic chance of 10 goals a season is not unreasonable. The majority would settle for 17th this year not demand 7th (I changed aspire to demand - I am on uncertain ground - of course I'd like 7th but currently settle for survival ) Edited by mileend (09 Aug 2019 6.33pm) Edited by mileend (09 Aug 2019 6.34pm)

Edited by johnmcormick8 (09 Aug 2019 5.57pm) The past is just that and it has gone, we should be more than capable of holding a mid table position in PL, we have good supporters and the club earnings from PL are enourmous. The Chairman and his Dof have to plan for the future by identifying weakness in the team whether that be playing ability, age , injury or just contracts coming to an end. The Dof (Freedman) should be capable of identifying prospects and then have the contacts and experience to be able to go after them as soon as the window is open rather than leaving it until the 11th hour. I see no reason with proper investors, a good chairman and Dof that we cannot survive in PL without spending the crazy money that the top six spread around. You only have to look at this recent window to see the likes of Watford, Brighton & others who have made good but modest investments in their teams for the future!
