All our players got hacked out every single time they ventured too far forward when catching them off guard, all teams do it of course but this part of the game needs to be addressed I feel because it is denying excitement and goals which is what the game is and was invented for. This is a tactic bought into the game by Guardiola and Arteta is applying the same game plan

When he was City coach, Arteta was caught on camera in one of those narcissistic fly-on-the-wall documentaries advising City forwards to tactically foul. The extent of Arsenals forwards doing so on Saturday was laughably clear, and ref's do need to catch up.

He looks like an old fashioned number 10 but that's not much use to us sadly. Or just an old number 10. He seems so physically weak all the time. He has no pace, and whenever he does shoot he seems to possess no power at all. Without those attributes its hard to see him making a case to play no10.

Highly highly rated coming though the German ranks doesn't happen if you're average. Then when he gets a chance in England, he gets played out of position. It might not work out for him at palace. But to say he's a very average football player is madness.

Completely agree, he was doing well as a deep-lying playmaker in Germany but has been shunted out to the left or right with us. He will go on to do much better for a different club with a different style.

I have made my own opinion up on him by watching him play and yes I do believe he is a very average football player. There is not a position in our team or any team in this league where he would excel. He may have been better a few years ago but right now his career is on the decline.

He has had ages, and even if wide right isn't his position he was played narrow left in a four man midfield for ages, and even with license to cut inside and get involved he showed no particular attribute of value. He isn't going to get faster or stronger no matter where you play him, and without that he can't play in front of the back four anyway.

His shooting is indeed terrible but he is fantastic impact sub and rarely loses the ball. When he isn't under pressure he keeps the ball moving forward rather than sideways, which is always a plus. Good to have in the squad but never going to be a success because of his size and the way we play. But I disagree that he is 'average'. Edited by SW19 CPFC (14 Jan 2020 2.09pm)

He has failed to live up to expectations whereas Riedewald, playing out of position has exceeded expectations.

I actually thought he had an ok game v arsenal, however it still highlighted his weaknesses..the cross for our goal was massively underhit/mis*** as was the volley which was teed up perfect for a "number 10" to smash home.
