there might be a bit of sugar to this bitterest of pills ... it's about how we fill the gap as we will have to at one point, it will take restructuring rather than a replacement but this link reckons we could get better than Schurrle and cash, there's one of these new England young stars at Dortmund, sounds hopeful ...

lol, i can see where you are coming from. I still state the the club should be building around Zaha, but, with all the rumours going around and second guessing, it does seem right now that there is a possibility he could go, if not this summer, definitely next year.

Thing is, right now, the club looks weaker than last season and does not look to be building around Zaha, for obvious reasons (FFP, new stand and managerial merry-go-round). Which in an ideal world, we would be.

Wilf alone cannot save the club and with a couple of injuries we could we well be in trouble next season. We can all admit that - right?

So i am going on the notion that the board have a plan B, a few players lined up if we did indeed get the cash for wilf this summer and at least improve the squad with a realistic team that can get to 40 pts quicker than last year (thanks to bringing in cover) and start the process for Roy now.

So, i have pretty much lowered my expectations in the last 48 hours and resigned myself that yeah, selling wilf would suck and i don't want too, but, realistically his money could get 3 extra people into the squad atop of who else we sign. Think of it, losing Zaha but 5 new additions - yeah it wouldn't be ideal but needs must.

So yeah, ideally i want us to build around wilf and after 6 years we shouldn't be in this situation, but it appears we are and i fear we could be in this exact position next year, so i just want the plaster ripped off quickly.

So, i hope that explains what i meant and maybe you'll think about the way you reply to posts in the future - let's keep it civil, we're all just sharing ideas.

This is all mind games. The truth of the matter is that we haven't got any dosh to buy players. There will be no replacement for RLC or Cabaye. Parish knows that he along with previous managers have f**ked up the finances and that this is going to infuriate the fans. So he puts out this bogus story that Wilf wants to leave. When he doesn't leave everybody will be overjoyed and will forget about the other stuff. Simples.

All these rumours are from Everton who are using us as a bargaining chip in their move for richarlison from Watford. Making it look like there is an alternative

Maybe...

Can we please disagree without resorting to personal insults. First and final.

This is all utter bollocks and paper talk.
Note all the journalists write "it is understood, we believe, sources tell us" and so on. They can't say Wilf has actually said he wants to leave if he hasn't or it's liable. Until I hear a statement from the club or Wilf saying he's off then I ain't losing sleep!

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong

I was about to apologise to Vaibow after reading the reason for his change of opinion.

This is a subject where passions obviously run high when people seem keen on selling Wilf with 3 weeks to solve the problem.

I haven’t made a personal insult in the slightest. I respect you as a poster and hope your moderating isn’t comparable to some quick cards issued in the recent past by new mods which thankfully stopped.

I'm sure Vaibow will accept you apology. It's easy to get carried away in the heat of the moment, but we need to try and keep it civil as everyone's a bit on edge about all the uncertainty at the club at the moment.

It's the silence that kills us...not knowing whats happening is the worst.

We were all informed business would be done early - from the man himself - now the local rags are circulating like wolves.

From the BBS:

‘Clapham Grand has just tweeted not to believe everything you read in the papers. I’m taking a leap and guessing he’s referring to the Wilf stories as rubbish!’

Clapham Grand has some very in the know contacts and gets lots of things right.

With three weeks of the window left I think everyone would have been OK still, but the Zaha rumours have really poked the hornet's nest. A simple Tweet from either the club or Mr P that we're in talks with two or three targets (if we hopefully are) and something on the Zaha situation would have been helpful, but we just don't seem to work like that.

Agreed. I had a tizer last night and I lost it for a slight moment. The worst are the ‘fans’ who intend to start a dozen pages of worry and arguments from a post containing a load of rubbish taken rom a newspaper and added to along the lines of ‘well this will mean this and that and Armageddon don’t you all think?’
