It doesn’t seem the bigger clubs have been fighting over him and the rumoured interest from PSG and Arsenal doesn’t appear to have materialised.

I think that much of it has been agent chat. Arsenal have supposedly been after him but why would they be with Saka and Martinelli currently occupying his positions and they aren't going to pay his sky high wage demands just for him to sit on the bench.

I would think he’s staying.
His contract expires today and he’s had more than enough time to line up another club if he was leaving.

I suspect he already has some sort of verbal agreement with Palace in place and that it will be announced that both Hodgson and Zaha will staying in the coming days.

I agree with this. I would be very surprised if he was to go anywhere else at this stage. I’m guessing that the club are trying to make it exciting by going to the last hours of his contract to announce new deal.

Just seen Ed Aarons saying (who is usually reliable) that Wilf is using Palace facility as his base for rehab from injury and no deal is in place.

Looks like no other clubs want him on the money he/his agent are asking for . Keep him on the same amount he gets now , this will keep the rest of the team happy .

My suspicion is that this could turn out to be another spectacular backfire for Wilf, especially if it drags on.

I think it's fair to say many clubs would want him on the roster and he is good enough to bring something to the table however:

1. Will clubs pay that much for Wilf Zaha? Has to be 150k+ p/w and who is gonna offer a 30 y/o Winger, with diminishing pace, not guaranteed to start every game, that? Can't see anyone beyond perhaps a Villa and what would be the point there?
2. Would he be guaranteed a place in the starting XI at any club competing for silverware now? Probably not.
3. Will his hypothetical dream move be in London, or somewhere he'd be willing to relocate/settle (and family)? The options are limited as is.
4. Will the fans of the new club accept him or demand instant performances, shooting down an already fragile/volatile mentality quite quickly? There's a good chance.

Therefore the club willing to stump up the most, where he has settled his family and he knows best, where the fans love him and he knows he'll play, is Palace. Sounds harsh on Wilf but I think my comments are true. The only other option I can see is Arsenal, possibly Chelsea, offering him big bucks to be a bit part player. That's almost certainly not going to happen though. Maybe PSG, or a Milan club, but most probably not.

Said it for some time now but he needed to sort his mentality, improve his game and employ a competent agent much earlier in his career. I fear his time has passed and whilst not impossible I see all his dreams coming true now as a very long shot, very long indeed.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

West Ham don't fit his criteria but will have the Rice money to reinvest.

While I agree with some of your post I wouldn't underestimate the power of being a free agent. Once initial targets fail to materialise clubs like Arsenal might be willing to offer him a deal, especially when you consider he is probably one of the most high profile free transfers left available and the fact they are splunking money like there's no tomorrow on the likes of Rice (probably) and Havertz. They'll probably play 60 games next season so while he might not be a regular starter he'll probably still get plenty of game time. Apparently Nelson will be getting a 100k 5-year deal which perhaps tells you how deep Arsenal's pockets are.

Although I think it’s a folly to offer Wilf that kind of money, if indeed it is true , then the likes of Ebs and Olise should look upon that as an aspiration for themselves.

But not now. Zaha has been a Premier League player and top performer for Palace for 10 years now. They are still fledglings by comparison.

Very good point

West Ham could be an option. They have European football this season too don't they?

Still think Newcastle could be an option

I don't begrudge him a move after so many years of incredible service but West Ham? He could do better than that.
