At the moment I don’t think he will be sacked or resign.

To believe that a manager who loses 8 on the spin is unsackable is very Palace. Anywhere else in the PL he would be gone. You like a good stat Willo who was the last manager to lose 8 or more games on the spin and retain his job? It is all down to context and circumstances at the time. Hodgson has once again secured survival for us which is his sole objective. We possess an ageing squad and having to play a series of game in a relative short period of time can take it's toll.Having entrusted Hodgson with an extended contract the Board will not panic if we lose a number of games in these unusual circumstances.

Blimey, you should be a Politician Willo, that totally dodged the Q? asked.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I just think that replacing Hodgson with a younger manager likely to stay with us if we get relegated next season is better now than waiting a season under Hodgson who will not be able to keep us up next season with this aging squad. Get someone in now who can build a younger team / squad who just may keep us up or get us into contention for coming back up if we do go down next season. It’s a risk but I just can’t see Hodgson working his normal miracle next season. Other than the first half v Bournemouth we and Norwich are the worst sides in the prem at this time. We will be in the same position next season as now with Hodgson going and will probably be relegated with a squad that may struggle to survive in the championship? I think Hodgson needs to go now but would love to be proved wrong.

With 3 workhorses in midfield (Koyuate, Luka, MacArthur) all more or less incapable of playing an "opening pass" to the front men, what to expect?

He has to go. Just looking at our goals scored. We have 30 with 3 games to go. Only in our first season up did we do this badly scoring 33 in the season. Since then we have scored 47, 41, 50, 46 and 51. Under Hodgson we are going backwards. Where are the youngsters being brought through now we are safe? Where's Kirby, or Banks, the youngster we got from Scotland? It's all so predictable. We all know what the side and formation will be every game because he never changes it (unless there are injuries and then it is just a like-for-like change). Hodgson has been managing for over 40 years - football has moved on in that time but Hodgson hasn't. He is too old and the team he picks each week are too old (we have had 18 of the 20 oldest PL teams this season). Put Cahill in charge - at least he's played in winning teams and knows what it's about.

The apologists for Hodgson blame Parish and the Americans, the players, Freedman’s scouting.

PatrickA Are you suggesting that another manager could get the current squad to play a far more expansive and entertaining game and secure survival at the same time? From my perspective we have short-comings in the squad in terms of creativity, the squad is ageing, lacking in energy and mobility at times and Hodgson can only work with the squad he has got.

Any manager is only six games from his job being in question and Roy is no different. However, I don't see anyone plausible actually wanting the job other than someone after a quick payday. The age of the squad and the fact that the owners wanted out even before we faced global economic slump are hardly a secret. Thought the players looked tired and get the frustrations around Roy's reluctance to freshen things up but when the likes of Meyer and Riedewald are continually thrown up as main points of criticism it doesn't do much to strengthen the arguments against him. Luka has looked particularly off the pace and it was notable McCarthy played instead of him in the three wins against Newcastle, Brighton and Watford which effectively saved the season. this is where the owners need to sell a vision and longterm plan for Palace to get someone interested, and marry that with the prospective manager's football philosophy and vision. Like what we did with FDB but we need to give another manager a chance and learn from what didn't work for FDB. The process was right, the appointment was not so it needs tweaking not scrapping completely. Will probably have to give Roy a pay-off given that he's got a contract extension. More madness from the business-running side of things

More madness from the business-running side of things The contract extension was offered to keep Hodgson at the club because he had met his objectives of keeping the club in the PL for two seasons and there was every chance this was going to be extended to three seasons and this of course has been the case. A 'Net spend' of just £8 Mill in the three seasons he has been at charge. He is seen as an experienced 'Safe pair of hands'.

Yes I do believe we could get enough points to stay up even if we didn’t keep 10 behind the ball every game.
