Jeremy Corbyn has been criticised over Labour's handling of anti-Semitism allegations by the national secretary of the Jewish Labour Movement. A classic Comment from Baroness "whitewash" in response. "Shadow attorney general Baroness Chakrabarti has called on the group not to "personalise the issue"." Err but if the issue is actually Jeremy Corbyn how can you not personalise it. It's a bit like Labour MPs in the 1980's being told not to blame Mrs Thatcher. C'mon Shami at worse Jezza is pushing this anti Jewish agenda at best he is doing nothing to clamp down on it. If I were Jewish I would certainly be personalising it.

The ones that found no case to answer just before she was elevated to the HoL.

Sorry Shami I should have been more polite glad that you joined us. And yes Teddy I agree the woman has no shame.

We now have 5 racism or immigration threads I think, plus the Brexit thread. I wish this wasn’t such an issue at this present time but for various reasons this subject is bubbling away. Maybe it’s time for its own tab, or maybe not.

I've no doubt that antisemitism exists in the Labour party itself....However, while we can point to Corbyn and McDoughnut..I think it's more a problem around the edges of the party with some of its activists. Mostly I regard most of the criticism directed at Labour over antisemitism to actually be anti Jewish nationalism....or what they call zionism. Some people think that these are basically the same thing and I see that argument but essentially I think there is a difference. I have to be fair to Labour and say that this just fits in with their general opposition to nationalism.....or should I say, successful nationalism....which would be more accurate. I say this as a nationalist myself who isn't opposed to zionism or Jews....But also as someone who recognises the injustice that the Palestinians have endured historically since a bit before and from the creation of modern Israel......I don't think it's a situation that has a happy ending. I regard Jews as probably one of the most important groups in the world....The listing of Nobel prizes and notable people in history relative to their population size is ample proof of that......They are literally the example of successful genes through evolution in action. I certainly wouldn't want to be an enemy of theres. However, they should be open to criticise the same as anybody else. And the environment we find ourselves in means that they are effectively a 'protected' class. While I'm a heavy critic of Labour and it's not exactly a secret that Corbyn is a major anti Zionist.....I find that the party itself has been subject to harsh treatment. That said, it's hard to have much sympathy considering their stance on opponents of unacceptable elements in Islam.....where they have a conflict of interest due to their reliance on that community for votes.

It’s disingenuous to call this anti semitism. It’s racism pure and simple.

I take your point but she’s unelected and I have to add in a master stroke of hypocrisy sent her son to a private school at fees of more than a thousand pounds a month. So comprehensive schools are good enough for you, I went to one myself, but not for her child.

The whole problem with 'race' is that it is a term of convenience. There are people who share genetic characteristics through isolation or selective associations but the picture is much fuzzier around the edges. My issue with modern race politics is that there is a constant call for people to be 'equal' and harmonious and yet the trend is for people to rally behind their identity to gain political influence. This is a contradiction.
