Perhaps it's the reason we don't work together with other countries and have a common policy which allowed the the problem in Calais to fester. We should agree to the UN Migration pact the it should solve the problem[/quote] No it won't. The more migrants that are allowed to settle wherever, the more will come. Europe cannot accommodate a large percentage of the African/Sub Continent/Far East because that is the way we are heading. This is not a racist remark although I am sure some on here will consider it so.

Because that would have involved migrants coming to this country or Ireland first. Look at the map. Can you see any physical, logistical reason why this might not happen? Migrants want to come here if they have a connection e.g. a strong settled Iranian population draws their relatives and friends. However, the vast majority of migrants have more connections in Sweden, Germany etc. and have no interest whatever in coming here. To describe this as a "migrant crisis" is red top bollox. It's a manageable trickle that will have absolutely no negative impact on the lives of anyone. You are wrong. It did.

If you read my previous posts I cannot state facts (I am bound by the Official Secrets Act) but over 30 years working for the Immigration Service/Border Force and 3 years working as a Visa Officer on the sub-continent I possibly do have a clearer idea than most on here (including you)! Do I know everything...of course not and have never professed too. If you consider this another pointless put down, that's up to you

The potential queue of migrants wishing to enter Europe is virtually unending with increasing population and the shortages and friction that brings.

If you consider this another pointless put down, that's up to you I do get fed some info from someone close who also works for the border force and I am aware there is a very serious problem with our borders from non EU migrants. I just don't think the recent "flood" of Iranians across the channel so few in numbers they could fit on a bus constitutes a crisis.

Yet it takes just ONE radical Muslim to kill or injure hundreds of people at a music concert or train station if he/she is allowed to ILLEGALLY enter a country without having any idea of who they are or where they have come from. I hope and pray that a victim wouldn't be a loved one that you or I are close to. Edited by Penge Eagle (10 Jan 2019 9.28pm)
