Nice idea but I'm afraid oil and it's bi-products plays a major part in most of the products the west consume be it plastics, clothing, electronics, building materials, even in our food. Supprised the current oil crisis hasn't got a thread of it's own. This current Russia v Saudi spat combined with Covid19 has resulted in the world running out of storage for oil. Oil companies, who generally have a better credit rating than most banks and nations now have huge overhead libilities and last week were having to pay companies to take their product off them. If the west switches to cleaner fuel, that will only bring the price down, making it easier for Russia, South Asia, and Africain countries to start building their economies on cheap oil (China are world leaders in clean electricity). I doubt they will care about the polition given that rich countries have built their economies on heavy poluting industry. Even if/when we switch away from oil, there will be a vested interest in protecting supplies in the middle east. Unless you put massive import tarrifs on countries without green economies. I think I meant to reply to an earlier post saying "lets get rid of oil"

Despite the ethical dilemmas of other teams, I wouldn't be too bothered if we got a mega-rich, dodgy owner. I could salivate about their morals all I wanted, but really I'd be thinking: new ground, spunking money on transfers, getting into Europe etc.

When income from supporters becomes irrelivant to the club the relationship between club and supporters diminish. That seems to have happened a bit since we got to the premiership. When we were in administration, it was s***, but you knew every penny the club made matters. In the premiership it seems the crowd are only included to put on more of a show for TV audiances.

Either way, I think its brilliant and will be using it when people are overly politically correct about stuff Edited by jeeagles (02 May 2020 12.16am)

It would be a pleasant surprise if this is the case, depending on who the potential buyers are, but unless an offer was on the table pre-lockdown, is anyone going to buy a club in the present circumstances?

I hope it's not the dreaded consortium. Charlton may be sold yet again there are 3 groups interested two of them are fronted by people well known in football circles. The problem with these types of consortium is that the front man is just that. The money men stay in the background it's not clear who they are or what their motivation is. In the case of the current Charlton owners the front man fell out with the owner within weeks of taking over and was sacked. Now it turns out the owner probably never had the money either and was in act a front man for god knows who. The EFL are still investigating. So it's rather like a onion you keep peeling away the layers. If we are sold let's hope we have a proper owner. Edited by Badger11 (05 Jun 2020 10.20am)
