Having been there a few years before that. Lloyds wanted to sell the ground to developers. Some people have really short memories.

Leeds draw last night was a shock! However, having been 2-0 up it could have been worse. That 3rd relegation spot looks like being a close one and could go down to the last games.

It's that time of year where the anxious waiting for the Palace miracle continues yet teams around us start resurrecting in biblical fashion. Everton beating Arsenal. Whatever next?
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Anyone coming in will have larger shares and will want control. Yup, Parish bought us on the cheap and with other blokes, invested but let's be real, he doesn't have the cash to run this club. Palace won't be asset stripped - lol, what assets? and the land... lol that's a nightmare to redevelop as we all know. A mega rich team need to come in and do things their way. Otherwise we can go back down to the champ and Parish can stay and we challenge In the champ, benefitting from the academy... which, would be fine by me. Going back to the Championship would be madness, this club would lose in excess of £121 mil income a year from TV broadcasting rights alone. The academy statistically cannot guarantee players even at championship level that would sustain the club or even its own future. I do agree with you about Parishonomics, what on earth is he thinking if he is realistically risking relegation for the redeveloped stadium which I believe is going to increase capacity by about 8000 and if by doing so you end up in the championship with crowds of 12-15k and the lost broadcasting revenue plus other EPL income from gates prize money sponsorships etc. I cannot understand the other investors allowing this to happen unless Parish is spinning them an incredible yarn that they are taking hook, line and sinker!

Being realistic, that strategy has kept the club in the Premier League for 10 years. So I think you would have to say that it has worked. But in those 10 years we have increasingly seen massive investments in clubs and the spending of astronomical amounts of money. Neither of which Palace have been able to keep up with. So from that perspective we have reached a glass ceiling.

It's speculate to accumulate. I think there's a consensus on here that Parish is overly cautious. So for him to want to press ahead with the new stand seems almost out of character. But I think the club needs to make this decision. It does involve risk and yes it could backfire. We could do nothing, get relegated and have nothing new to offer while Selhurst continues to deteriorate. I'm interested to recall Parish's words when Harris and Blitzer first came onboard ; ''The most important thing is the money that is available to invest in the infrastructure of the club," Parish told the London Evening Standard on Tuesday. "I should stress, this isn't for new players. We can manage that out of our own resources. This is to build the infrastructure of the club and to take it to the next level. "In effect, there will be more money available because the money that is currently diverted into those areas will instead be available for players. But it is not going to be a huge extra investment in players. "As much as we can, we will ring-fence the new investment for the infrastructure of the club, which most clubs don't have the luxury of." I wonder how much of that applies today ?

Apropos caution, I am reminded of the words of a Chinese General who said, words to the effect, that an enlightened ruler is heedful and a good general is filled with caution.
