Watching us at the moment game in game out - is defend, defend, defend. If that isn’t one trick what is? Keeping us up undoubtedly can’t argue that. But a tough watch. It is Dave there is no doubting that. But if your remember the best Italian national sides they built their successes around solid, cynical hard fought defending, but they also had that cutting edge up front in the likes of Roberto Bettega and Paulo Rossi. I was a defender and our wins were based on “thou shall not pass” we might not have won many, but we lost far fewer. Last season and this season we have struggled with so many injuries more than anyone in the division. Roy cannot put out a balanced side. My thoughts are we will see better performances once we have a boss in midfield, who dictates play and can let the likes of Eze and Wilf play in that last 3rd. We have had this type of player before, Dave Madden, Geoff Thomas, Mile Jedinak and the brilliant Cabaye, who we never really replaced.

Even on a loan for next season from a top six team.

Did a fine job for us as manager, will always be grateful!! He certainly did, and at least walked as soon as the season finished rather than 48 hours before the next one was due to start!

That’s true, but you ask any WBA fans at the moment and they will give you a really good argument about the shortfalls of fat Sam. They would snap your hand off to be in our shoes as it stands.

If Fulham win tonight I reckon we could end up seeing a record points total (since league has 19 teams) to stay in the league.

So we are effectively 12 points clear of them and they only have 8 games left. We are safe. So basically it is just one relegation spot left between Fulham, Newcastle and Brighton

Newcastle getting tonked 3 at Brighton. I can only see them getting 3 points against Sheff U before facing Fulham on the last day of the season. They are bang in trouble.
