Burgess has just gone back to League. That's got to go down as one almighty failure of an experiment.

Burgess has just gone back to League. That's got to go down as one almighty failure of an experiment. It wasn't much of an experiment. I mean, let's look at Stuart Lancaster's hypothesis in detail: Let's take a player who's never played this sport before, train him for less than four months, then put him into the highest level of competition on the planet, just for good measure in a different role than the one trained for for most of those four months. My hypothesis is that it will be a resounding success. Great experiment. Most of us could have saved you the trouble of learning the answer the hard way. Honestly, the experiment itself wasn't needed to reveal the answer. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Sam.

No surprise there. Deserves plaudits for sorting an unholy mess from the previous regime but ultimately not the man who could move up a level and huge now exposed limitations as a coach.

I think, based on their utter lack of the decision making on the pitch I could have been sold them all some magic beans tbh Anyway - Jake White for England or as before the insular RFU throw in a few token World Class Johnny Foreigner names before selecting a proud Englishman who had a season coaching the Old Arseholians 3rd XV

You wouldn't fancy Dean Richards? Going foreign isn't necessarily the answer though it has worked well for Wales with both Henry & Gatland. With Hansen though it was a disaster ans he isn't a bad coach is he? Gatland had no international experience before we appointed him. He has a superb team around him which in rugby is absolutely key. He rules the roost (WRU) and what he says goes. Whoever you pick you need they need to have the balls to do it on their terms which is something I don't think Lancaster did (Burgess for example)
