Yep, sounds familiar But watching his goals in Germany, he must improve, surely, or maybe Palace is just a graveyard for goal scorers

I think you are correct it has been difficult for any centre forward to do well few crosses and opportunities Christian Benteke did well in the second half of last season but I don't see him being the answer.
Jean-Philippe Mateta has been given more game time than most preseason he has looked a real threat hit post and bar against Ipswich three other chances, scores against Reading. Mateta is a goal scorer as he showed in Germany and will be for Palace.

Tekkers will get the nod at the beginning of the season but let's hope if he doesn't do anything then he is given a chance (assuming we don't sign another striker whom the management like the look of) and that underlying financial issues with his loan deal don't get in the way.

Exactly. He struggled with the quick passing game when he came on against Charlton and was caught on the ball too often last season because he needed too much time to decide what to do with it (the ball that is).

Unless he can sharpen up I don't see him featuring much in PV's plans. He'll have Riedewald, Kouyate, McArthur and Gallagher ahead of him in the pecking order IMO.

Yeah, fair enough. I don't think the short, sharp passing suits him much. But he can spray a ball and split defences etc. You're right, the new style might not be for him. Would be a shame imo. Love Luka.

Any news about Nat Clyne? Is he staying, or is he leaving? Any update?

I would forget Clyne and go for Jonjoe Kenny from Everton, they may even take a swop deal for Luka.

So far so good with the window.
The club has managed to significantly reduce the wage bill, get rid of some deadwood and bring in some potentially very good young players.
There is still scope for another loan and perhaps a budget that will allow for a couple of additions.
I'm not sure these additions will occur before the season commences though.
There's probably a bit of brinkmanship going on with the possibility of last minute deals which seem to happen every window.
I would like to add another forward who could play across the front three, a specialist defensive midfield player and competition for Mitchell at left back.

Rumours (I know) indicate that our new manager will send loan striker Mateta back to Germany. Think that will be a sensible choice. In spite of his Brighton goal - reminds me of a certain striker we loaned from Arsenal a couple of seasons back. Sanogo remember? That was praised by Alan Pardew as a player "with tremendous promise!"
