I’m surprised people are so dismissive of the likes of Wilder and Howe. Both have excellent career track records. This is one of the first seasons of ‘failure’ for Wilder and Howe had a very good career at Bournemouth until his final season, although his short spell at Burnley didn’t pull up any trees. I’ve no idea if they would be suitable managers for Palace,but none of us really do, and to dismiss them on the basis of one recent poor season seems a tad unfair. How many managers go throughout a career without a blemish? Perhaps Guardiola in recent times. But look at the clubs he’s managed. Realistically we’re not going to get an elite Champions League manager so we are shopping at more of a Tesco than a Harrods. There’s likely to be question marks against whomever we appoint.

I'm torn on this. Part of me thinks that he's quite a good manager. The other part says he's a dour northerner who thinks he's Brian Clough. Nowhere near.

Former players who I wouldn't totally dismiss would be Lombardo or Popovic. I haven't been following their careers at all, should have googled them really. They could have gone to sh1t for all I know.
