Maybe we should form a hard right Sussex Palace Old Gits Supporters Splinter Group. Or will we just argue about North vs South? All sipping coffees in a 'Darby & Joan' club !

Probably a couple of years ago, I attended a match at Hassocks FC and got talking to a charming chap who was a supporter of our club. Whenever I catch the train from Hassocks to go to a Palace match there are Palace fans getting on at Burgess Hill and then more at Haywards Heath. Perhaps the older the fan the more likely they are to live out "in the sticks"

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

now that is interesting There used to be a Crystal Palace pub in Tunbridge Wells. Had been there since 1870, but closed down in 2014 like many other pubs. Shame. There are clearly loads of Crystal Palace establishments all over the world. What was the subject of this thread again?

We were getting regular crowds of 14 to 16K back in the Championship. That was about a decade ago and I thought our current ST sales were around 16K? I think we'd currently struggle to fill a 40K stadium but with some incentives for locals and attractive PL opposition to lure "football tourists" we'd fill a 30K. I agree with this. I remember we played Liverpool in the 5th round of the Fa Cup in 2015. Despite tickets being reasonably priced we only managed £20k and I ended up buying for some (Palace) friends on the day. I'm sure it would sell out now but for the wrong reasons.

I went a lot back in the Championship and yeah it was 14k but it was fun. Then we got Villa in the cup and it was suddenly 20,000. I was like, where have you lot all come from?

Yeah but is that just because everyone knows that neither club gives a f*** about the FA Cup? You could give tickets away but if the actual participants don't care then why would the public? I think the reason Premier league games sell out is not that they are exciting, but just that the paying public can at least be certain that the teams (clubs) care about the result.

At the time Brendan Rogers' Liverpool hadn't won a trophy in three years and we were only in our second season in the Premier League so competitive games against Liverpool weren't ten-a-penny. It was on the telly which probably had a bearing.
