Looks like its the best bit of business, we are going to do this window.

The lad was overhyped on his arrival and just didnt adapt to Premier football, it happens.

Phenomenal through the German youth system and the creative midfielder we were and are screaming for. A risk true but sadly one that didn't pay off. Depressing.

Glad to see him off the wage bill but it’s still sad to see him depart. I think there’s a decent player in there somewhere. Can’t help thinking a different manager would have found a way to fit him in the team but I guess we’ll never know. It will be interesting to see what he does next.

Not at all sure about that. If another PL manager thought he could play in our league, then why did none of them try and buy him? Was it simply because he was on silly wages or because they doubted he was strong enough to do a job?

Meyer was neat and tidy, could play some good passes but couldn't protect the ball for toffee.

You've answered your own question. Which begs another: Why did the trio of Parish, Freedman, and Hodgson think it was a good idea? Chuck in Sorloth for good measure and it is not too difficult to conclude that scouting and recruitment is not up to par.

Perhaps, just perhaps many supporters have concluded that the scenario went along the lines of :

"Roy, we have a 'Wonderkid' from Germany who has arrived on a 'Free', fit him into your side".
Roy then is a tad bemused that a 'Wonderkid' who had been given a big fanfare was not being chased by some of the big clubs in his homeland or in this country.

Thought he and Wilf played well on occasions - we have a few defensive midfielders to allow a bit of creativity - didn't work out sadly. Good luck Max.

Camarasa, Meyer, Riedewald hardly ever picked. There is a pattern as to what type of player is required by our manager. We as fans just have to like it or lump it, which to be fair is what most of our current central midfield do.

Agreed and add in the reluctance/inability to spend money

With a squad place freed up I’m hoping we’ll bring a player in this window to refresh the squad.
Observing Freedman and Parish this would likely be a player out of contract in the summer where the selling club wish to realise some value rather than allow the player to leave for free.
Lundstram of Sheffield Utd is one such player we have been linked with in the past, but no doubt there are others.
At 26 he is a strong, energetic midfield player that would tick the boxes for Roy - unlike say Camarasa and Meyer who were never likely to make an impression .

Our manager wants a player that fits into his system.

Sadly that type of player isn't available within our price range.

We can keep churning through players until we get lucky or change the system to suit the talent we have.

At the moment it feels like some of the players have been made a scapegoat. No statement yet from Max Meyer. Pretty sure he'll be under some kind on non-disclosure agreement - I wonder if something happened after the Wolves game? The average age of the squad has just gone up again. Hopefully, we are lining up a signing. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Back to his homeland and EU benefits.

Disappointing as our midfield not exactly great at present.

Good luck to Max.

A shame that it didn't work out. I think we all had high hopes of him. He often made an impression when coming on from the subs. bench but didn't seem to impress when starting games.

From the beginning I formed the conclusion that I simply could not see him making any real impact in our team and for once my judgement proved sound!

I wish Max Meyer well in his future career.
