We cud free up a lot of wages by not renewing various contracts this summer, and we could replace the oldies and over-paid with up and coming players on lower salaries. Two out of Luka, Kouyate and the two Macs should not be in the first team squad next season, add Meyer and that's three midfielders to go, with Jairo + 2 we wud only need to bring in one frontline midfielder and have a youngster as the fifth midfielder (Banks or Dreher?) ... so I think a progressive squad rebuild is not only possible but necessary, urgent even.

Yes you are right a complete reshuffle is needed and maybe moving on our high wage earners could be our way to enabling change but I guess as well as Roy has done it will take a new manager to achieve it.

Perhaps the point being made in the original post which has been lost is that we can win, and win well, playing good football.
Our most negative performances against the likes of Chelsea, Burnley and Newcastle have resulted in defeats in any event.
Defend strongly by all means with our ageing defenders, and allow Zaha and Eze to flourish.
None of us can say for sure that playing attractively will result in worse results.
We weren’t exactly on the front foot playing attractively when we had that terrible losing run at the end of last season .

I’m content with our points total so far this season, and playing attacking football against Man U, Leeds, WBA has made a significant contribution.
Like the original poster, I would like that to continue and don’t see it as contentious.

You're looking at results and not performances and you're pigeon holing everything.
You need to analyse both teams on the day and not just ours.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.
Football is to be enjoyed not endured.

Results determine that, your team could be under huge pressure all game with their opponents hitting the bar and posts countless times and with balls cleared off the line, then with just one opportunity and through an awful mistake your team scores and wins the game and you'd be as happy as Larry wouldn't you.

60% + of football is actually quite boring.

The watched performance would suggest to me that the other team was playing the better football, the result suggests otherwise. Sad that I have to spell that out.

I won't be lectured by the likes of you about how to watch football.
If you find 60% of football boring suggest you find a new pastime or a new team.
