To me Eze has to earn his spurs. He is not a winger so he has to replace one of our midfielders. At QPR he was the talisman all he needed to do was drive the team forward create and score. He is now with a team that needs to work hard to maintain their status in a higher league than he is accustomed to. Is he good on the ball ? Yes.

I don’t accept that Zaha and Eze can’t play in the same team, although I can see Roy could may reservations due to his conservatism.

I might drop Bats and push Schlupp a touch further forward to link midfield with Zaha. He's much better in the air than Bats, far better at using his body, and shoots on sight (a much under valued quality). Then in comes Eze with some powerful runners (Wilf and Jeff) in front of him. Might work.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

I'm amazed at how good Eze looks so far, which makes it even more infuriating that Roy is stubbornly refusing to play him. Really, I could not be more sick of this. Does anyone seriously believe that Roy is going to get the best out of Eze? If so, what offensive player has he gotten the most out of? You could argue that every offensive player we have has regressed or not performed nearly as well as hoped: Zaha, Sorloth, Meyer, Camarasa, Benteke. Eze will be completely wasted here until Roy is gone. There is no other possibility. Edited by Wilbraham413 (31 Oct 2020 11.02pm)

I mean who could have predicted this scenario. He a central midfielder, who likes the no10 space. Roy doesn’t play a number10 nor does he like any attacking or creative minded players in central areas, or at all tbh. Qpr fans said do not play him out wide. Odd thing is Eze said after signing he had conversations with Roy about his position before signing. Shame that position is now seemingly the bench. You’ve got to ask why we signed him on the first place. Roy will kill his confidence by making him Townsend mk11. We will not see the best of Eze until Roy’s moved on. Hope Eze has the patience.

Eze at QPR mainly played as a No 10 and was afforded the freedom to roam in more central areas. Given that I had seen him play for QPR before he signed for us, I could not see where he could fit into our team and believe I asserted these very sentiments on HOL.

At the moment Roy seems to make it a straight choice between Eze or Schlupp in the wide left position in a 4 man midfield.

Indeed, and having engaged in conversation with supporters outside HOL, this same view was expressed. Eze, Meyer,Camarasa are seemingly just not a fit for Hodgson. I suspect that he would much have preferred to have signed Giroud rather than Batshuayi.Probably would have preferred to have signed the likes of Capoue or Cleverley. My feeling is he'll play his way into the team. He looks an unbelievable talent that and once he does hold down a position we'll all be better off for it. Barring injury I reckon by the WBA game he'll be a key component in the lineup.

We won’t see the free bird at QPR. He will have that coached out of him. Roy will be showing him videos of Townsend on repeat before he’s allowed a starting place.

Have a look at the way Villa line up today. There is no reason why we can’t fit all our best attacking players into the team. Schlupp has some uses but we will never progress while he starts.
