Try telling that to the family of Stephen Lawrence That was over 26 years ago. Where is the commentary over the death of teenager Kriss Donald who was kidnapped and murdered by a pakistani gang 11 years after Lawrence? Do you say we need a 'white lives matter' movement because of that then? What about the many thousands of rapes of white girls by predominantly pakistani gangs done deliberately because they were 'white' and non Muslim. Do you say we need a 'white lives matter' movement because of that?

I don't think the taking a knee for a minute before matches has been effective enough. Players need to take a stand, so to speak. True change will be effected by teams voluntarily deciding to play the 90 shuffling around on their knees. Only then will the world change. Edited by IMMER PALACE (26 Sep 2020 11.33pm)

I'm presuming that the cases you cite obtained convictions. I don't know if they resulted in Public Enquiries where the findings spoke of 'institutional racism' within the Police force. No doubt 26 years ago some people would have been bleating about it all being a storm in a teacup, with nowt to worry about;just the moaning of 'extremists'. i know some things never change but I live in hope.

Sadly, another thread has wandered. Real respect has been shown to Sgt Matt by those whose lives he touched. I assume that all those who we get to know do matter - there is a need for people to open themselves to others and think for themselves.

I Felt loathe to let a post go unchallenged. All our thoughts are with those who have suffered a terrible loss. A local copper, entirely appropriate.

The first link is a report by Breitbart, A far right website, that reported an interview with one of the founders of BLM, Patrice Cullors on another website. Breitbart take their particular slant on the whole interview, focussing on her formative years on the political scene. The original interview is a haunting recollection of her growing up amongst the black and Latino community and how it shaped her resistance to racial discrimination. So, the link is to a New York Post piece about a Breitbart piece about the original interview. Not exactly ‘horses mouth’ but two steps removed from an original interview, the main points of which they chose to omit. Mm… I would recommend anyone who’s interested (not many, I’ll wager lol) to read the original interview. Your second link is from the American conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation. with strong Trump leanings and diametrically opposed to BLM, who they see as threatening ‘traditional’ American values. Both links express right-wing interpretations, slants on BLM,. They are opinion, not fact. If you consider these to be ‘the horse’s mouth’ then that is a mistake. Surprised legal action wasn’t taken then. Presumably any media supporting BLM are truthful in their articles? No point in asking for links if no media outlet can be believed
