I noticed in the Chelsea game the first thing he did when he came on was to give the ball away. I’m pretty sure he made no killer passes or runs thereafter. He’s sub average, lightweight and needs to be shipped out pronto. Why people on here are so sympathetic to him is beyond me. I know he was hyped up when he arrived but surely people have seen enough to know he isn’t much cop.

I’m absolutely delighted someone else sees what I see. If he hadn’t of come with a reputation then no one would care less about him. He needs to move on.

Possibly because they have a different view of his abilities to you?

Zaha should be sold, replaced with a player that will compliment a midfield system that promotes Meyer. He has to be be built around and given a season run out.

We also need to replace Ward with a young right back.

We need to sell Sakho. We need to blood in a youth defender... Tomkins, Cahill, Dan, Kelly are more than enough at CB.

We need to sell Benteke and cut out losses regardless with him... or, make it work where he plays and has Meyer in the midfield too...

Either way, this summer we need to change a stale environment.

Absolutely laughable statement! Sell our best player and then build a team around a player who has done nothing to warrant a starting place yet alone build a team around him.

Sorry Vaibow; can't agree with this.
Dealing with Meyer first, I am someone who would like to see him given a good run of games in his preferred position, but no way has he shown that he's good enough that we should consider building a team around him.

As for Zaha, I'd like him to have the chance to go to a bigger team, but quite frankly, after his less than inspiring performances this season, I can't see any team offering the kind of money that would persuade the board to sell. I'd like to see Wilf given a free rein. That would give the customary two/three opponents tasked with marking him (often literally) a headache.

As I said, the squad needs a rebuild of sorts but that's not going to happen in 1 window, so it's feasible that Roy starts that process but may not finish it.

If / when we complete he signing of Nathan Ferguson, I see that as the start of the process. We are also being linked ( I know ) with a number of players all of which are younger than those we currently have.

The trouble is though, Parish/Freeman will not do anything until the last 24 hours of any transfer window, followed by the usual result, we could not get the deal over the line in time!

Now would be the time to give fringe players some opportunities given the Europe pipe dream is over and relegation not a threat, but he aren't blessed with too many of them in truth. I'd certainly like to see what young Mitchell can do at left back.

Nathan Ferguson might not be the answer.

I have not seen a real demand for his services and WBA have done very well without him, utilising Darnell Furlong and also Dara O'Shea at right-back. Ferguson last played for WBA in January.

There are other right-backs in the Championship who have received more plaudits than Ferguson, examples of which are Jayden Bogle, Mahlon Romeo and Matty Cash.
Dael Fry of Middlesbrough has played at right-back, in central defence and also as a defensive midfielder.

2021/22 will be a massive season for Palace.

Most of our ageing quad is out of contract then and all are on big wages.

Roy will be gone by then too, so assuming we stay up next season there will be a lot for the new manager to do.

This planning needs to start now. The next 2 transfer windows are huge but money must be tight with revenue down due to covid etc.

Amazing when you look at our salary list - top 4 (Zaha, Benteke, Meyer and Sakho) have contributed so little this season. This has to change going forward

Meyer is so hugely overrated by some Palace ,and I don't know why.
To me he's no better than someone like Johnny Williams, what is the attraction ?

In my humble estimation he is a 'Square peg' in a 'Round hole' and I have not been impressed with the peg.
Perhaps in a team with a different system and style he might be far more effective.

Having a free reign has done pogba no harm.
Hes playing well and enjoying his football.

Talking of Meyer’s cost to Palace being in the region of £20 million I have just read an article on Oliver Burke who has cost WBA a similar sum, albeit with a transfer fee included.
We were very closely linked with Burke as Freedman knew him from his Forest days and Burke was a very highly rated youngster.
A number of years on his career does not appear to be going anywhere.
Just goes to show that transfers can be something of a lottery although clubs like Brentford seem to have more hits than misses.

It was Pulis who signed Burke for WBA, I believe the fee was £13.75 Mill.He has been playing at Alaves this season.
