Nailed it. As others (too few, sadly) have said, be careful what you wish for. Look at Charlton and the way they disintegrated after ditching Curbishley in vain pursuit of 'the next level'. We are not a large club and it's unrealistic at this time to aspire to European qualification - poor infrastructure, poor stadium and limited budget make such dreams unachievable. Blaming Hodgson for all this is astonishing and is the thought process of someone with a very tenuous grip on reality. Seriously, get your heads out of your arses if you think that getting rid of Hodgson is the answer to your prayers. He's played a blinder, balancing zero resources against the demands of a vain and egotistic Chairman, a feat not achieved since Coppell. Without him, we'd be mid-table championship level (if that) today. It’s not about Europe, I agree we’re miles off it in many ways. It’s about actually enjoying my team play football again. You say we’d be mid table championship, yet we’ve stayed up under how many different managers? And were the squads significantly better than this? I certainly don’t think so. We’ve gone through Pulis, Warnock and Allardyce and none were as bad to watch as we are now.

Absolutely yes. I don’t buy this opinion that as long as Roy is at our club we will stay up. It’s not like he has never failed before. The squad is wafer thin, most of them are in their 30’s, we don’t score anywhere near enough goals, anyone creative doesn’t get a look in and Zaha looks like he’s lost interest. Definitely time for a change.

Nothing wrong with being inspirational but the infrastructure at the club needs radical improvement before it can become reality. European football would slaughter us. Yeah as they say 'levels'. It's always hard to make the leap.

The only mistake I can think of recently, is the loan to Sheff Wed of Connor Wickham. He could have played last night and is doing very well at the Owls.

The Wednesday fans were slating him hard up until lockdown for being absolute dross, he's a clogger who hits form every now and then, and he's in form for now. That's all.

Roy is of the best managers we could hope to get and comes with the massive bonus of possibly the best defensive coach in the business. What is usually amusing about these sorts of threads is that someone calls for the sacking of a top manager and then suggest we replace him with Tony Popovich or some other such person who once put on a Palace shirt. If Roy had a better squad, we would be more exciting.

We need players, more than we need to worry about the manager. We need some signings or it's another season of dross ahead. Particularly if Zaha goes. Shoe string just won't cut it forever.

Roy's not been in the job for three full seasons yet and his frustration around transfers / ownership in the last eighteen months has been visible during interviews. The group of players, whilst honest, don't have enough goals in them full stop irrespective of tactics.

Enough goals is an understatement. Last 2 games we have suffered the ignominy of playing a whole game without any action in the opponents box and last night we produced very little across the park with no midfield bite or guile. We are also an old team (can't even say aging just old.) Roy is a true legend and tactically astute but our transfer policy has been more miss than hit and we have no money to spend. We have 9th largest wage bill but little to show for it

Pulis and Allardyce came in to stop a freefall into relegation. Both did an excellent job. Warnock's second stint simply wouldn't have been enough if he'd seen the season out. Seriously, if you're looking for entertainment, historically Palace hasn't often provided it. I mean absolutely no disrespect to you but surely you must realise that Palace is a club that has flown by the seat of its pants for literally decades.
