As I see it the phrase Black Lives Matter is used as opposed to All Lives Matter, as black people are being killed and murdered by law enforcement particularly in the good old USA. Of course all lives matter, but this is personal to the black population, pointing out they matter as much as the rest of humanity. It’s like saying to a person who’s father has just died, all people die, yes it’s a fact but hardly empathetic. Having lived in Chicago for a while you soon get to see what a racially divided country the USA unfortunately really is. But anyways COYP. Do you think the yanks work harder than us Kev? I know they don"t get much holidays, they even work on our boxing day, that i can never understand, phone my gf in North Carolina on christmas day, wishing her a merry christmas, and find out she"s getting stuff ready for work tomorrow, thatis crap, imagine having your christmas night buffet and beer knowing you got work the next day!I know from NC down country you get mad little communities, once drove through one with an english mate on holiday in florida and a yank driving, he was scared to go through the town in case we broke down, it was called " ye haw junction!"

I’m not sure they work harder , its the labour laws that are archaic, plenty will only be entitled to one weeks paid vacation per annum and won’t move or are terrified of losing a job as the health care goes with it. In regards to Boxing Day that’s a UK thing a throw back to when the servants had to work Christmas Day and would receive the Xmas ‘box’ from the employers this was their day off. My friends over there are frankly astounded at our statutory 20 days, flexible working laws etc. Unfortunately the US has a broken system that really seemingly only works for the middle classes and the rich. If your poor in the US your screwed. Edited by kev64 (18 Jun 2020 2.59pm)

I get emails from Turtle Bay in Croydon. Perhaps something like Myrtle Beach if you wear sunglasses and squint a little. Plus you get the odd voucher if you sign up their WiFi.

The cause of equality is a laudable one. I miss football, but if it is going all political, I might give it a miss.

By uttering those words you are demeaning the BLM cause. Who agrees? : BBC, Google, CNN, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, EA Games, H&M, Levis, Gap, Nike, McDonalds, CocaCola, plus many, many more. Who are we to disagree? Many demonstrators have proved that they themselves are racists so for me its All Lives Matter or nothing.

Can’t quite decide if this an ironic post?, saying all lives matter is not racist, it maybe shows of lack of understanding in the Tag Black Lives Matters. As to the corporations who’s marketing departments have jumped on the BLM bandwagon for there own commercial reasons, they give zero F*cks apart from the profit margin. The bottom line is a section of our community feels sidelined and discriminated against by the powers that be and maybe we should all wake up to the fact instead of repeating Daily Mail headlines.

So exactly, I mean specifically what can change? Arrest for a negative or unconscious thought. Jail for the wrong word. Positive discrimination for jobs and housing! I've heard nothing apart from stop searching black boys for knives. See the irony in that?

I've heard nothing apart from stop searching black boys for knives. See the irony in that? Maybe investing in inner city schools and education , providing real job opportunities and training. I’ve no idea why in 2020 black people are statistically more likely to be pulled over by the police than a white person?. It’s not about positive discrimination as the Daily Mail who lead you to believe, it’s about actually dealing with the issues of deprivation and lack of real opportunities for not just Black but also for the so called working class. I detest the cancel culture, where people apologise for social media posts from a decade ago or are vilified for having a different opinion, at the end of the day it’s about education and dealing with the real issues instead of this bulls*** of looking at which statues to pull down as its the flavour of the day. The mayor of Bristol was happy to see the Colston one thrown in the Dock but what did he do to remove it prior if he was so offended by it ? . Sadiq Khan didn’t give a crap about statues a month ago so why now .
